The wolves. It works. A steam wolf starts charging at me and in the corner of my eye I watch Mel hold her fire on her wolf and come charging at mine.

"Oh no you don't!" Mel screams. Mel jumps off her demon boxer and charges for the steam wolf. In no time at all she tackles the wolf to the ground.

"Gahh!" she screams at it. Mel grabs her gun and shoots the beast in the head. She tries to control the steam wolf but when she goes into the adult male's mind, I can tell it burns her. She falls to the ground and tries to find her gun quickly but has a steam wolf tackle her from the back. She rolls over and feels her gun. Suddenly a claw drags across her left eye. Mel immediately loses her vision in her left eye. Blood streamed down her face as she knew she had been scratched by the steam wolf. She grabs her gun to kill the beast.

"Mel!" I scream. After I had watched all this I had had enough. I run over to her as the wolves begin to run off. Some plasma wolves were running towarAfter I defeated Beasty and the voice had sounded through the intercom I had gone into the gym. Tons of animals were packed in. How'd they get in there? No idea. A big blue and green cat pounces up to me and my name is on a tag dangling from her neck. 'Precious' reads the tag. I pet her and jump on her back. I herd the rest of the animals out and to their owners including Mel and the other 8 people in our group. After everyone has their animals I have everyone get in a long line down the field. Apparently while I was gone everyone decided I was the "leader" or something. I go down the row and write everyone's name and animal down on a piece of paper. I pass many creatures I like to draw in my spare time. I count everyone. One-hundred-sixteen people. I'm in charge of 116 people. OK then. Afterwards I decide everyone needs to rest. People go about the field and lay down beside or on top of their animals.

I go and grab Mel.

"I think we should make this worth while," I breathe. I take her into the school and we find some scissors from a classroom and head to the bathrooms. I cut off the bottom portion of my dress leaving the soft and messy clothe down to my knees. I then cut off Mel's. We agree we should lop off some of my curls. By the time Mel's done my hair is above shoulder length. She laughs.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing you just look so punk-ish."

"Well ok," I laugh back. We walk back out of the school and I go sit by Connor and Mel goes and sits by Sean. I nuzzle into Connor and he kisses the top of my head.

"Sean and I went out to look for other people... The whole city is deserted," he whispers, "It's like no one was ever here." I hug his chest and fall asleep like that.

*********

In the morning everyone is awake. Guys had gone down to the storage room and salvaged whatever weapons they could find and spread them out among the 116 of us. After we salvage what we can from the school like bags and scissors and lunches left uneaten we load the stuff into some cars and have some people drive them while their animal walks behind them. The streets are deserted so we have no problem going down the road. We pick through each other's houses getting weapons and food and useful stuff. When someone would come along their own old house they would cry or scream. When we came to my house I loaded everyone up with my father's weapons. I went up to my room and grabbed my tabby cat named Max and put him in my bag. Girls best friend.

We go from house to house through the day till there are no more houses to explore for blocks. We pick up some more cars to haul our stuff and more animals are in the back, walking. I find myself in the front with Precious, Mel, and Anna. We take stops every two hours and feed ourselves and our mythical creatures of all sorts. No one knows what to do. I can't believe that only two days ago I was stressing over an exam. After three days of traveling around our next 'Test' arrived. A voice booms from everywhere but nowhere one afternoon.

"My dear students," He booms, "Now is time for your next Test. I will not tell you what it is because what is the fun in that? I'm sure you will find out what it is soon enough." I can hear the smile in his voice as he says it. Precious growls beneath me and I calm her. The voice is gone and the silence engulfs us again. After a few minutes of silence a low growling comes from behind a building near us. The group by the house moves our way. Everyone equips themselves with whatever weapon they have and points it at the building. A few seconds pass and the bushes beside the place rustles. A small pup jumps out of the bushes and everyone sighs.

"Mel can you control that pup and see what kind it is?" Ally asked.

"Yeah hold on," Mel replies while staring into the pups eyes, "Woah." Mel pauses for a second. "This is an inbred of a wolf. Some sort of highly toxic chemical is running through it's blood, be careful around it." More noise was heard from the direction the pup came from, everybody waiting to be surprised. Black wolves began to run through the bushes growling. We all stare at the group of the black dogs. Green fills their eyes and a toxin spills from their mouths. Gray wolves start to appear with the group of black dogs, but they're different. They have metal around their muzzle and neck. When they snarl or growl, steam would come out of their vents or mouths. Mel grabs her gun and so does Sean. Connor uses his fire against the steam wolves but it does nothing. I uses my tusked cat to trample the wolves near Mel. I pick up my M16 and shoot some plasma wolves off of her without a scratch. I looked at the small gash on Mel's face and gasped. I begin carrying Mel to the others. "Im fine," Mel says with a blank facial expression on her face. Sean had stopped his fire as more wolves began to run from Sean's toxic green serpent. He took one look at Mel in my arms with blood running down Mel's face. He stumbles and faints at the sight of her blood. Max crawls out of my bag and licks Mel's face gingerly. Mel moans and faints in my arms.
