Zahara's POV
I sigh as I sling my bag over my shoulder. Demigod hunting is never as easy as it seems, especially when you're with Carmen. I look over to see that Carmen had her mailbag over her shoulder also. "Come on Carmen, we need to get to class." I sigh. "Chiron sent us here for a reason."
Carmen's POV
I open my mailbag, checking the contents. Potions, dagger, apple, and poison. Everything I need. I follow Zahara into class and slam my bag down by a seemingly new kid. I sit down and pull out my notebook and pen. Zahara sits down next to me and grabs my mailbag, going through it. I grab the apple and glare at her.
"Hey." I say as I try to start a conversation with the new kid.
"Hey" He says with his head down at his desk. I look over back at Zahara to see that she had already pulled out her book and started to read it. I shake my head and tear the book away from her.
"No Carmen." She growled as she snatched the book back.
"Stultus" I speak in Latin as I am shaking my head.
"Hehe, nice." I heard a voice beside me.
"Hello, now you want to talk." I looked over to see the kid sitting next to me "Who are you?"
"My name is Christian." He said with his head still facing his desk. "Your's?"
"Carmen Valdez"
"That's an interesting name. Are you two new?"
Zahara leans over and looks at the new kid. "No, we have been here all year." She said trying to convince him.
"We have?" I whispered into Zahara's ear.
"Of course we have, Carmen." she said jabbing her elbow into my side.
"Well, I am new here and it's been hard. I just got here three days ago." Christian looks back down at his desk.
"That's ok!" Zahara was trying to make him feel better.
"Well it's been hard."
"Oh. . . . Theres. . . ." I muttered."There's what, Carmen?" I whispered into her ear.
"M. . . m. . .magic.".
"Magic...who has it..." She looked over at Christian, wondering if it was him.
"No, it's not him. It's a kind of evil magic, not yours either." I told her looking around the room trying to figure out where it was coming from.
"What are you two whispering about over there?" Christian wondered as he was leaning over to try to listen.
"Nothing" I said trying to forget about it.
"Nevermind, class is staring anyway."
"This is strange." I said as I tapped my desk.
"Yes, strange." Zahara replied after I did.
The teacher started talking about math or something, but I wasn't really paying attention. I hear Zahara mutter to herself, and ask her what she said.
"Oh . . . Nothing." She answered.
I look over back at Christian to see that he was yawning and starting to fall asleep. I poke him in the shoulder and he jerks up.
"Huh, what?" He said as he looks around.
I sit up straight and lean over towards Zahara. "We need to go."
