Such a jerk, right? I know.  I hope my story is going well till this chapter. Studies take up most of my life. And I don’t promise that the next chapter will be very awesome. I was not sure how to continue. I think it went okay.

I finally reached home. Normally I come by the school bus, but today I walked home. I just had to clear my mind. The walk really helped. Just when I was about to reach home I saw that some new people were moving in next door. Mrs. Jade who used to live there earlier was very nice and used to bake lovely cookies. I just hoped that this time too, some decent people were moving in.

Surprisingly mom was at home today which was a very uncommon thing. I realised that it was obviously for a very important cause since mom couldn’t be caught dead in the kitchen. And there she was, giving instructions to the maid.

I went up to my room, and just then mom came up to inform me that Sara and her family were coming for dinner along with another dear friend of my mom and Sara’s. And that I had to dress nicely.

I hate mom’s soronity friends and their clinging daughters. I knew today would be no different.

I dressed up like I always do: jeans, a t-shirt and my Combat boots. Mom came to check on me and when she saw what I was wearing she went downstairs and returned with one of the dresses she last brought for me and which I never wore.

I looked at myself in the mirror: hair straightened, a black strapless dress and matching pumps with a hint of makeup on my face. I do hate being dressed up like a mannequin doll.

Sara was supposed to come after the unknown guests. I readied myself for a session of agony and went downstairs.

I got the third shock of my day. My Dream Guy was sitting there with his parents. I knew they were his parents because he looked exactly like them.

I stopped on the stairs.

I do hate my sister sometimes. She guessed my discomfort and took me down. I know she was doing it out of spite. And since the only available seat was next to him I had to sit there.

I did not want to make small talk so I just sat there. But I guess my Dream Guy couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

“Hey.”

“ummm.”

“My name is Derek”

“so?”

“You still angry with me?”

“For what?”

“For stealing your seat.”

“stealing?!”

“yeah, you made it sound that way.”

“I did not.”

“yes you did. As if I committed a grave crime.”

“whatever.”

“it’s gonna be so much fun.”

“fun?”

“yeah, we just moved in next door.”

That’s when I lost it! I mean, he was gonna be my neighbour? As if it’s not enough that he embarrassed me in front of the whole class, but he was gonna be my neighbour too? My day couldn’t get any better.

Just then Sara came with her parents. And when she saw who was sitting in the living room, she pulled me to the kitchen.

“do you realize who he is?”

“yeah, his name is Derek. All three of our mothers were soronity sisters and his family just moved in next door”

“omg, it’s gonna be so much fun”

“you too?”

“what?”

“nothing, he just said the same thing to me”

*dreaming* “since he is gonna live near you, you can keep a tab on him and tell me everything about him. You will, won’t you, Anne?”

“obviously, Sara”

just then my mother called us to have dinner. During dinner Sara didn’t speak much to me since she was busy staring at Derek. It was the first time Sara was in puppy love with a guy and I knew I was supposed to be happy for her. But am not, why?

Did I say that my day couldn’t get any worse? It just did.
