I Know This Isn't Goodbye - Hide X Reader

I know this isn't goodbye

It's been a month now and nothing has changed. The door no longer opens to a bright smile that the (h\c) haired girl once had. (Name) once had a smile that could bring even the darkest of places to the light when she had the people who kept her afloat. But then they had gone, left her just like her parents did all those years ago.

(Name) sat on her bed in the dark, she had long since given up going outside and into the sunshine. In her (s\c) hands a photo frame rested, worn from the many days of being picked up, put down and laid on. Suddenly (name)'s (e\c) eyes sparkled with rage and hate as she threw the photo against the wall a scream leaving her mouth.

"AHHHHHH!" The angered cry echoed around the apartment as the girl broke down into choked sobs, crystal tears rolling down her face before she scrambled off the bed and towards the broken glass.

The broken memories.

Wiping off the shards with her bare hand, (name) gently picked up the photo and held it to her chest before she caught sight of the bumps and cuts all the way up her arm, blemishing her (s\c) skin. More tears broke to the surface as a memory replayed in her head.

(Name) tugged at the sleeves of her (f\c) jumper, pulling them down over her hands, to hide the secret beneath. Suddenly a pair of arms wrapped around her waist and intertwined their fingers as a chin rested on her shoulder.

"Morning (name)." A warm breath blew against my cheek as ginger hair merged with mine.
" Hide...." His presence made me feel guilty. I promised him and Kaneki I'd stop. Mainly him though. His warm lips pressed against (name)'s cold cheek as his hands slid up her arms making her flinch. And of course Hide noticed it. His smile turned into a frown as he grabbed her hand and walked them behind a wall, out of sight.
He didn't talk. Neither did she as she leant against the wall her eyes shadowed by her hair. Hide lifted her arm and rolled up the sleeve before lowering his head to her arm and gently peppering it with kisses before moving on to the other arm. (Name)'s eyes opened wide, watching Hide closely as his soft lips pressed against the broken skin of her (s\c) arm.

Hide's head lifted up as he intertwined their fingers once again, pressing a warm, loving kiss onto (name)'s shaking lips. Pulling away he smiled gently and (using his spare hand) pulled down the (f\c) sleeves.

"Come on (name), let's go find Kaneki."

"Hide? I love you,"

"I love you too (name),"

Both teenagers opened their mouths to speak the words together;
"Forever and ever."

Soon after that Kaneki disappeared, he didn't leave anything behind that could lead the two to where he was. They asked everyone from antique to the people in the other wards. Nothing was heard of him. Hide became quiet whenever the subject was brought up, he knew something but couldn't tell (name) what it was he knew.

Eventually Hide joined the CCG, much to the horror of (name), nothing could be said to change his mind. The last time (name) saw him was when Hide made his last promise.

"Hide, please don't go!" (Name)'s voice cracked, her worry and discomfort breaking through to the surface as she gripped Hide's top. In response he gave her a gently smile and lightly kissed her forehead, before reaching behind him to grab his set of headphones, placing them round her neck.

"Look after these for me, I promise I'll come back (name). I know this isn't goodbye. I love you, forever and ever." With that he reached over and kissed her. A kiss full of love and passion and every other emotion that two people in love could ever possibly feel.

"I love you too Hide, forever and ever."

A tear dripped down her (s\c) cheek, disappearing when Hide's thumb wiped over it and a smile light up his face.
"See ya (name)."

It did turn out to be a goodbye.

He never came back to (name), so now, as she sits there with a glass shard in her hand and blood running down her wrists, she remembered the smiles of her lost friend Kaneki and the smiles of her dead lover. The memories flashed behind her closed eyelids as the life slowly drained from her.

All at once her body went numb and a glowing, ethereal hand appeared in front of her spiritual body. She took it and looked up at the vision before her. Hide stood there with a smile on his face as he pulled her toward him, wrapping her back up in the safety of his arms.

" I told you I knew it wouldn't be good bye," His voice rang out around her "now let's go and love each other, forever and ever."
And with that both spirits walked into the white light, into their forever and ever.
