My mum looked at me with a serious look before breaking into a huge smile.
"I have some great news!" She explains to me and my twin, Vanessa. Me and Nessa both exchange a confused look before turning back to our mother who stood with a huge grin across her face. We wait patiently as she composes herself, tucking a few strands of loose hair behind her ears.
"I got a promotion!" She squeals jumping up and down like a teenage girl.
"That's great mama!" Nessa and I started before being interrupted "there's more" she smiles composing herself once again..
"We have to go to Cali!" She shouts. My heart drops at her words from excitement as she pulls me and Nessa into a tight hug. We break the hug and I turn to see my sister's face drop immediately. I look back at my mother who was still stood with a huge grin across her face. Suddenly Nessa races out the room leaving me and my mother in a state of utter confusion. I turn back to my mom who is no longer grinning.
"Do you think...?" I ask, she nods instantly at my words. I could tell that this promotion meant the world to her and I wasn't going to let this get to her, never in a million years.
"I'll go have a word with her." I reply taking my mothers hand in mine before kissing her cheek. I make my way up the stairs repeating thoughts over and over in my head, this promotion meant the world to her yet so did mine and my sisters relationship. I finally reach my bedroom door and knock gently three times. I could hear sobbing from the other side but no reply.
"I'm coming in.." I speak turning the door knob and making my way inside. My first sight when entering the room was Nessa, who was sat on the floor, her head in between her knees as she rocked herself back and forth.
"Nessa, don't beat yourself up. You'll still have dad. And we can always skype and text. I promise" I whisper sitting down next to her, I place my one arm gently around her and pull her close to me.
"But dad isn't you. You're the only person I have Ron. Please don't go." She pleaded looking up, her under eyes were black from her mascara and her cheeks were flushed.
"I have to, this promotion means too much to her. And you cant just leave dad, he's lonely too Roni. Mom and Dad's argument really broke him. He needs you." I sigh sitting up into a comfortable position.
"Fine, leave me. Just like you leave everyone else." She shouts pushing away from my grip and standing up.
"Don't even think about bringing this out on me. You know I wouldn't leave you voluntarily, but I gotta do what's best from mom." He reply keeping my tone calm so my mom wouldn't hear us shouting.
"You wouldn't leave me voluntarily? You are though." She cries wiping her eyes.
"I'm calling dad, I'll tell him to pick you up." I sigh having enough of the blame. I pull my phone out from my pocket and scroll through.
"Oh look. Can't wait to get rid of me. Don't stress it, I'll walk." She spits slamming the door behind her and heading downstairs, I start to make my way downstairs before hearing another slam at the front door.
"It didn't go well, I guess." My mom sighs as I head into the kitchen where she was washing up.
"Nope, we're still going mom. I understand how much this means to you. When we leaving?" I ask opening the fridge door and pulling out a bottle of water.
"Tomorrow, but we can wait if you want?" She smiles.
"No tomorrow is fine." I reply
