Christian people mainly got the idea of so called fallen angels based on the interpretations of the Book of Revelation 12. In Catholicism it's spoken of "the downfall of the angels" not in a spatial way but it described a radical rejection of God and his rules and reigns. He rejected some angels who once were created as good beings and who chose the evil later by themselves. Since there has never been any defect in the infinite divine mercy their sin is unforgivable and unforgettable. In 19th-century , regarding the New Testament, some priests and historically involved people claimed that even the Devil and fallen angels can be saved since God was believed to rescue everyone.
