We were walking to my flat in comfortable silence. I wanted to grab his hand so bad, but I resisted the urge.
'I will bring up the kiss when we get to my flat.' I kept thinking to myself. He had to like me, right? I mean we kinda sorta made out, but then again, why would a handsome guy like Peej like me? I am just, well, me. I am nothing special. I'm a cliche blonde, blue-eyed small town girl. A guy like him would never fall for a cliche. Maybe he does this to girls on a regular bases. Makes them think he likes them, and then... then... I don't know. Drops them? I came back to reality when Peej waved a hand in front of my face.
"Do you daydream quite often?" he asked. I nodded. Normally, my daydreams consist of my own personal world. Everything is peaceful there. "Me, too," he said.
"What do you daydream about?" I asked.
"Lots of things. I mean one day I'm a ruler of some small village, and others I'm battling some made-up beast," He replied. I smiled and he blushed. We kept walking until I stopped, noticing that we were at my flat. Peej realized.
"This you?"
I muttered a yes. I decided to put my big girl pants on and take a dive.
"About that kiss last night," I began. Peej interrupted, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I was totally out of line." My heart dropped. He didn't think of me in the same way.
"Friends?" he inquired. I reluctantly nodded, and he engulfed me in a hug. I breathed in his scent. I couldn't deny the fact that I felt safe in his arms. We both said our good-bye's, and PJ started to walk down the road, before I realized I hadn't asked him another burning question.
"Why were you at the shelter?" I yelled down the road.
"I volunteer there on Mondays from 7 to 12 for college credit," he yelled back before turning around again. I would see him every Monday.
I walked into my flat, and decided to take a shower. I promised myself I would never cry over a boy, and I intended to keep that promise. I wasn't weak like that. I was washing my body, and trying not to think about him when I heard my land-line ring. I decided to let the machine get it. I heard the similar message from the machine, the beep, and then Dan's voice? How the hell did he get my number, let alone my land-line.
"Hey, um, you left your cell phone here, Lola. Just call us when you get this. Um, yeah, bye." I laughed. He truly is awkward.
I quickly finished my shower and called the number that called me, which happened to be my cell. Ah, so that's how he got my number. It rang 3 times before I heard someone pick up.
"Hello?" I heard Phil's voice ring through the phone.
"Hey, Phillip. It's Lola, so you guys stole my phone?" I joked.
"I guess," he joked back.
"When can I get my phone back?"
"Um, we are busy today, but what are you doing tomorrow?"
"I have to work, but I have a lunch break from 1 to 1:45. Could you meet me at the Starbucks down the street from the animal shelter?"
"Sure."
"Great, see you tomorrow."
"Bye, Phil."
"Bye, Lola."
I glanced at the clock. Twelve thirty.
"Hmm," I said to myself. I should have lunch soon. I decided to go to Pret for lunch. Then, I'd do some shopping to keep my mind off of PJ. Being the most untypical girl, I didn't really have any friends in the area. When I was 16, I got a job and spent all of my free time working. I eventually saved enough up, that when I turned 18, I could come to England on full scholarship and pay rent. I wasn't well off, but I made it. I got to graduate early and landed my current gig.
