You know that immediate response you have to someone falling. Grab their hand.
So I did, and I regret it.
Something was sucking him down, perhaps the air. It was just like the Elitches ride, Tower of Doom. I hate it, so I screamed.
"Shut up Nicole!" He said.
"You try falli- you shut up." I said.
He apparently thought it was funny with what I was saying, so he smiled. If he was really my father, he would be more sensitive.
I looked up only to find a blinding light, and then I got used to it. It was incredible. The vast array of colors just above the sunset looked familiar, but very hazy. "Nicky, do you remember?"
"Remember what?" I said not really paying attention to his question.
"This day. Look up again. It says June 12th, 2003. You would have been just a child, about 5. We went to the park an- look over there," he says pointing to a park and a little girl, "it's us."
"What is this?" I worriedly ran over to the younger version of myself.
"It's the past. I have to show you. You must believe me. Now take my hand. I must show you something."
"I don't want to go." I say clearly dazed by the fact that it is me.
"Do you want to save your mother?" He snapped, startling me out of my awkward state.
"What do you mean? Are you going to hurt her? I swear to go-"
"Do not say his name in vein," he snaps, "he's probably listening right now."
"Pshht, sure he is."
He looked at me seriously.
"Fine."
He then yanks me over to where I fell and takes my hand, and I'm falling again.
I learned not to scream like last time. But this time, I had my eyes open. The light was blinding, but it quickly faded and got dark.
When I fell, I fell next to my house. A burnt down version of my house. My mother was screaming and metal clanked together at a rather fast pace.
"Is this the future?" I ask with sincerity in my voice.
"Unfortunately, yes it is, but remember this, the future can be changed based on the decisions you make."
"Your not a fortune cookie." I exclaim. And then, a fist comes hurdling at me, and it all goes black.
