I rubbed my eyes and yawned as I turned my head to check my clock.
7:29
So that means the alarm should be ringing any sec---RING-
I hit the off button right when the alarm rang. I, for once, wasn't a sleepy mess. I have a license, but I don't have my own car so I take the bus. The school bus comes at 7:50 and school starts at 8:00. It didn't take long to get ready.
I brushed my teeth and went downstairs. Once again, I'm going to be home alone until 5:30 since that's when both my parents will be arriving today. I checked all my social media to pass the time since I didn't just want to wait at the bus stop for about 10 minutes.
I was about to leave the house at 7:48 when something dawned upon me.I FORGOT BREAKFAST!
I was starving. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, of course. So I couldn't exactly skip it unless I wanted to be in agonizing pain for the next four hours. I groaned and ran towards the fridge. I made a sandwich as quickly as I could.
7:49
The bus stop is about twenty blocks down from my house. I didn't think I would make it in time but I attempted it anyways. I stuffed the remains of the sandwich into my mouth, got my backpack and ran for it. I checked my phone.
7:50
I only needed to turn one corner, and the stop would be there. But, unfortunately I didn't make it in time. I screamed for the bus to wait as it began to leave the street but the driver didn't hear me. I sighed.Crap. I'm going to have my first tardy.
The school wasn't that far. About five minutes by car. But by walking? Probably 25 minutes considering the two big intersections that would cause me to wait a while for cars to pass. I began to jog. It was nearly impossible to run efficiently under the weight of my backpack.
Stupid textbooks.
I heard a car honk and turned around. I couldn't see the face of the driver from where I was standing but I saw a hand motion for me to come.
"Need a ride?" The person said. So, at first I didn't know who it was, and the cold, harsh winds make it difficult to identify the voice.
I didn't think it was a stranger, and even if it was...
Oh well. I'm desperate at this point.
I.
Cannot.
Be.
Tardy.
EVER.Besides, the most logical answer for who it was is...
LAURA! Duh, she lives like extremely close remember?
"Thank you so much Laura."
"You're welcome cupcake."
Damnit.
I got a closer look at the person, to make sure of who it was.
Fudge fudge fudge fudge fudge. UGH!
"Why are you here anyways?" I asked.
"To offer you a ride."
"No, I mean like why are you in this neighborhood? You didn't know I would need a ride until now."
"You'll find out soon enough."Ugh. He said that to me at the basketball courts...
No time to think about that now, I'm going to be late."Hop in cupcake." Brandon told me
"I never agreed to go with you."
"Suit yourself." He says as the engine starts.
"WAIT!"
"Yes?" He said.
I fidgeted with a strand of my hair, thinking carefully about my decision. I looked at the time on my phone.
7:54
"Fine I'll come. But I don't wanna ride shotgun." I wanted to stay as far away from Brandon as possible.
"Great. The more the merrier!"
"Wait... MORE?!"
"Yeah. I take these goons to school. One of them, -cough- Colton -cough-, failed the driver's test, many, many, I mean MANY--"
"OKAY I THINK SHE GETS IT!" I heard someone shout from the back seat. I put my face to the window so that I could view the inside. I saw two of Brandon's 'goons' waving at me. Then, Colton went up to the glass where my face was...
