The next day I wake up before her and make us coffee before we go to school I make a suggestion and ask "why don't you take that brace off" she turns around and responds"it straightens my hips and back its too noticeable without it" "well I love you for you not for what you look like people should too" she looks down "your perfect in my eyes you don't need it" she smiles then takes it off and she's right, it's very noticeable but for some reason it doesn't bother me not one bit.
The bell rings it's the end of school now and I can't find Mars I go back to the cottage and find a group of boys I don't know throwing broken glass bottles at her "you freak" one boy shouts then throws a glass bottle at her and cuts her across the cheek. Her stomach is bleeding a lot then she looks at me then runs up the branch staircase and into her cottage all the boys try to climb up the tree but for some reason can't "fuck off" I yell "your with the freak now,ok new boy and the freak" "don't call her that I get him by the back of the shirt and start punching him I managed to get on top of him and now I'm punching his nose repeatedly after It looks broken I get off and all the bus run away.
The branch staircase appears again as if it's telling me to go up and help her I run up the staircase and the door unlocked by itself, I close the door behind me and lock it. As I walk in I find Mars laying down on the bed faced up gasping and crying a lot she looks like she's in pain she looks at me and screams "I'm fine really you don't need to help me, I can help myself" "you can't lay like this it hurts you to be on your back" "how do you know that" "I pay attention to you I care" I respond she is still crying but forces a smile "here I got to get you to not be hurting" I grab 2 pillows and put them near the head board of the bed then say "I need to get your head up hear ok and I'll fix your back right now" "no it will hurt me too much" "come on it will be ok it will hurt less if I help" "ok I trust you" she responds, I put my arms around her as if I were hugging her one arm on her back and another on her waist I'm trying my hardest not to hurt her. I quickly lift her up and put her head on the two pillows then quickly slide another one where her back is so she's at an angle now "is that better" I ask "much better" she responds "but" she looks down at her stomach and her shirt Is filled with blood and there's a piece of glass sticking out, I guess one of the guys threw a bottle at her stomach and hurt her. It was pretty deep but gladly didn't go through any organs to cause any serious damage. I look at her and ask her "may I see it, I have to help you" "ok " she responds I go through her dresser and find scissors I cut the bottom half of her shirt off because the glass pierced the fabric to her stomach, I cut off any extra fabric around the wound then run to get tweezers a needle and thread and rubbing alcohol once I gather all the supplies I tell her "I need to take it out" "no it will hurt too much" "it will only hurt for a second you can hold onto my arm I'm here I can help" "ok " she responds I grab hold of the glass with the tweezers and pull it half way out she gasps and is now shaking and crying a lot I hold her hand for a minute or two telling her it's going to be ok I promise and wipe the tears from her eyes then I quickly you'll out the glass leaving her in tears. I clean up the blood and quickly stitch it up then ask "are you ok" her eyes are red and she's still crying she struggles to get the words out then finally manages to say "tttt-thank yyyy-you" and forces a smile I ask if she needs any more help with anything then says "ppplease lay with me" she's stuttering a lot because she's still in pain, I lay down next to her and wipe the tears from her eyes and hold her hand I rub her cheek softly where she got a cut from the glass then kiss it. She forces a smile then says "I'm not perfect" I respond "you are in my eyes" she starts crying more "don't cry cutie" "I -I can't help it" "try to go to sleep" "I'll try" she responds, she closes her eyes and holds my hand. I turn her way and begin to rub her head gently and she begins to fall asleep.
