Makarov POV
When the siren walked in I automatically put my hand on my sword that lay beneath my sheets. She was beautiful, and the spark in her eyes showed intelligence too. Her blue hair was dark and curly, I bet many men have died trying to touch that hair. I didn't want her here. I didn't want her near my crew, my children. But she was necessary. If I wanted to live and not let Laxus take over Tail I would need her help. I take a deep breath and open my mouth."Hello. I am Captain Makarov. You must be very confused miss...?" I ask as politely as I could.
"Juvia. Juvia Loxar." she replied quietly.
Struggling to not show weakness I walk to her to shake her hand. She slowly takes it and reluctantly shakes my fragile little hand. She was soft and warm.
"So, what am I doing here?" she asked. Pulling away quickly and taking a few steps back. I feel myself shake a little as I get back to my bed. I had to grab the post in order not to fall over.
"You're dying." she says in a melancholy voice.
"Yes."
"Sirens are not healers."
"I know."
"Then why did you take me?"
I look up into her deep dark blue eyes. She has not moved from the spot. Even her posture has not faltered. While I feel my self slowly falling, getting lower and lower to the ground. My strength was seeping out of me like a poorly made ship in water.
"Because, we need your tear." I tell her, sitting down.
"My tear? Siren tears don't heal either." she said. I nodded.
"Yes but it nullifies magic." I point to a cup of water and she slowly walks to it keeping a keen eye on me. When she makes to me with the water I grab it and drink it selfishly.
"You are planning on using the Fountain of Life. Aren't you?"
I remove myself from the cup and stare at her.
"Yes. But I don't want to live forever you see. Your tear can nullify it and I'll be able to heal with out the eternal life." I tell her. She closes her eyes and shakes her head.
"The eternal life is a consequence. Magic like that always has a consequence. If you take that away there will be a new one." she tells me.
"It is old magic, the consequence will be something minor, like not being able to eat or drink again or come on land only every ten years. I am ready to deal with that." I say finishing my water and trying to stand again. Juvia doesn't help me but instead watches like she is watching a sick dog try to move after you decide to put it down.
"Ok, so you want my tear, you get life and are able to sail the seas. What about me? What do I get out of this? There is no reason to help you." she said crossing her arm, expression unreadable.
"Family?"
"I have family, fourteen sisters."
"Safety?"
"Juvia is a siren."
"Love?"
She didn't respond to that one. Just a moment of sadness flashed through her eyes.
"You cannot trade love for a tear. You can't buy love or so I've heard." she said coldly. Love. I smile.
"Juvia, Tail, it's a special place. We are all from different places and what drives us together is our love. We are there for each other, help each other. You help us, me. There will be no end to the thanks you will receive." I told her. She just rolled her eyes.
