*Maya's POV *
I'm sitting in history class. It's the only class the I won't skip. It's the period with my two best friends Riley and Farkle in it. The real reason I refuse to skip this class is because of the teacher. Mr. Matthews is my history teacher. I know if i got caught skipping his class i'd be in even more trouble than ever before. Mr. Matthews is like a father to me.
I turn to Farkle. "Hey what will you and Riley be doing on this awesome Friday night?" I ask him. "We're going to Lucas's party." He says quietly. "What party?" I ask as Lucas comes into the classroom. "The party I'm throwing at my house and you're invited." Lucas says interrupting our conversation. "Cool can I bring my friend?" I ask thinking about my boyfriend Josh. "Sure." Lucas says before walking to his seat. So you bringing Josh to the party?" Farkle asks. "Yeah even though I don't like him like I used to." I say frowning.
(Time for party)
I'm getting ready for the party tonight. I know how Josh is if he gets drunk. I thought Josh was perfect when i was younger, but I have learned that he has his secrets. Josh picks me up at 8pm to head to the party. When i get into his pickup truck he kisses my lips, i kiss back even though I am secretly wishing it was Lucas kissing me. When we arrive at the party Josh walks me in, Lucas greets us with his beautiful green eyes. I say hello to Lucas and I head to find Riley. "Fuck" I thought to myself as i see Josh by the beer. I'm wearing an outfit that doesn't show any of the damage he has caused when he's drunk. He chugs a beer and quickly goes for another. Soon enough he's back to his worst side, "MAYYYYAAAA" he says as he hands me a beer. I throw the beer into the trash can. "Babywhy'dyoudothat?" He asks, his words slurring together. He's walking closer and closer to me, I don't like him when he's drunk. "Because I don't drink like you" i say walking backwards as i try to get away from him. Suddenly he pushes me hard into a wall, I hit my head. Josh starts hitting me harder, i can already feel bruises forming. Suddenly Josh gets pushed back, Lucas is standing there towering over me. He helps me up, I hold onto him. He's protecting me. Josh tries to get up but Lucas pushes him down so he can't get up. I let go of Lucas. "I need to find Riley and Farkle" I think to myself. I call Farkle's phone but there's no answer. Soon enough it's 11pm and the only people still there are me, Lucas Riley and Farkle. I finally found Farkle and Riley, they were kissing in the closet, that was all they did. Farkle wasn't allowed to walk home in the dark so he told his parents he was staying over at Lucas', Riley told her parents she was staying at my apartment. I didn't tell anyone anything. Probably because nobody cares about where i am. My mom is never home and my dad left me when I was little. I we all just sat around talking. Lucas let me borrow a pair of his basketball shorts and a
t-shirt. I am still trying to figure out why he'd protect me from Josh. Josh was arrested for being an abusive bitch.
