" Makik, wake up," I hear. I open my eyes to see Kotu standing above me. " I hunted" Kotu explained. " any luck?" I ask as I get dressed into a leather jacket, pants, and boots. " yeah, I found elk killed by Lava," he says. I step out of the tent and examine the elk he found. I scrape of melted flesh and cut a piece to cook over a fire. Kotu goes to bury the carcass and eats a piece. " Lava is being destructive this week," reports Kotu. " well you know I hate Smoke's territory," I say. then Kotu looks at me like i'm a ghost. " what?" I ask. I look down and yelp. my hand is on fire!! " it d-doesn't hurt," I say. I feel like crying. it really doesn't hurt, which is bad. in our world, people are chosen to control a certain element and find a piece of territory. they usually fight to try and control Nadoc. the regular people live in a territory, hiding from their controlling element, like how we live in Lava territory. " let's go to the Elemental Sanctuary" I say. the Elemental Sanctuary is a place where the chosen people go to light their element torches. Kotu and I start running. it will take us a while to get there. Kotu must be an element too, he is a talking wolf so, yeah, he's the Wild Element. we reach the green triangular building in 10 minutes. we walk through the oversized door and see the priest. he is always hooded, so I never see his complexion and his feet click like hooves. " so you are the Fire and Wild, follow me," his loud voice booms. his name is Xdiem, pronounced uh-dee-um. we follow him to 2 unlit, dusty torches. the rest of the torches are lit with Elemental Fire. Fire is the ruler of the elements, which puts me in more danger. I touch it and the fire from my hand ignites the torch and leaves my hand. Kotu touches the other torch and it lights with purple fire shaped like a wolf. " you are.. THE FIRE," Xdiem booms," YOU WILL RULE THE ELEMENTS WITH WILD!" then he removes his hood and I gasp, I never guessed he was this!
Xdiem is a minotaur. " I am a servant of the first Fire to the rest. I know you are the Fire descendant because you are female, and you have an animal companion," he says. he pushes open a metal door exposing a large room. it was full of animal skins and weapons and blueprints. "these are Fire's weapons, for you," he explains," choose one." I grab and axe and a sword and sheath them to my belt. " we start training," Xdiem says as he grabs a ball and chain," wolf too." Kotu looks at me puzzled. " start by swinging axe at dummy, I see your skill," Xdiem challenges. I swing slicing it's head off. then Kotu finishes by pulling it's leg off. " very good, now I teach you your powers," Xdeim says, " use them now, Fire first." I step up. this won't work, I think. then- fwoosh! I shoot fire out of my hands singeing the wall. I stand there gaping in amazement when Xdiem says," very good! you go now Kotu." Kotu steps up, extends his power given long claws, and shoots them right into the dummies heart. " you must leave," says Xdiem," the Elements know where you are!" then we hear the celing heave...
it seemed like slow motion. the celing fell and the windows burst. "RUN!" yelled Xdiem. we're running from the building. Kotu and Xdiem beside me. then, it happens. it all goes silent. 2 balls, one of acid, one of lava, collide. they head straight for me, hitting... Xdiem. I see his body hurled up by impact landing decapitated on the ground. " no!" I cry. " we have to leave" Kotu says. I reluctantly flee the body. they have destroyed the Elemental Sanctuary, a sacred place meant to be untouched. not only that, they, as in Acid and Lava, have murdered the priest, as well as Fire's ambassador. I will get them for this. as of now running is the best strategy. we stop 30 minutes later in Stone country. " we should press on to find our territory," I say. each element is reserved a territory. in Fire's case, two. "ok, so I guess your name is Fire now," Kotu says. "yep" I say.
we arrive in my territory, bordering Stone and Ice. it is teeming with talking animals and creatures, I hear their voices. we trek through a jungle and a forest to a vast field with a tall hill. "let's survey from the hill" I say. we climb it and look out over the terrain. we both gasp. the whole territory is a circle with rings around it. it has a wall of fire, then a jungle, then a forest, a field, a desert, an icy tundra, a rocky area, and an ocean in the middle with an island in it. " oh my!" I hear a voice. we turn around and see an eagle perched behind us. " it is a very splendid territory If I do say so myself." he continues. " and you are?" I ask. " I am Flamewing, I live here," he replies. " yes, this is Kotu and I am Fire." I say. " then you are our leader, all the animals living here, including myself. we built a signal fire for your arrival on the beach, so, shall we?" he proposes. we follow him to the beach bordering the ocean. there lies a large torch. " uh- you have fire. would you light it?" Flamewing turns to me. I touch it and it ignites. I hear a rucus and see more fires light." what?" I wonder. "it's a chain reaction, I invented it" he says. then we see hundreds of animals sprinting across the territory. packs of wolves, prides of lions, flocks of geese, you name it! some of these animals I've never seen before. they all stop and line up circling the beach. the largest of the lions steps forward. " Fire," he begins," we have long anticipated your arrival. I am Thorn, leader of the lions. we give you leadership over Hylia, the territory. lead us!" then, all of the animals bow. it's amazing! a black mustang stallion walks forward. " i'm Black Night, I will show you the treehouse we made for you,." he says. we follow him. the expression on Kotu's face is unreadable. I think this is awkward for him. I turn and look up. we see a magnificient treehouse, reaching to every tree on the island. island? I didn't even notice we crossed the water. " Fire," I snap awake. we have come to a ladder. " ok you will climb this and I will stand here and yank that cord up there to hoist me up, k?" says Black. " yeah" I climb up. once im up I look down and see Kotu isn't there. " Kotu?" I call. " yeah?" I hear behind me. " how'd you get up here?" I ask. "I took the stairs" he says. this makes me laugh. "HEY! PULL THE CORD UP THERE!" shouts Black. " sorry!" I call as he comes up. " follow me to your room please " he says. we follow him to a nice room with a balcony and a bed. " here. the hut on that tree has Ook in it. he designed the tree house so ask him questions and good night" he says as he walks out. " good night Kotu, we need our rest," I say. he's already crashed in my bed.
