Every day is just a casual, normal and all the more typical day. Day by day, the same schedule, the same work, the same classes and the same overall life. Surely, this can't be the only world there is. A world full of repetition, where nothing ever really happens. What if there was another world out there? A world that has gone undiscovered by all of us? If there was another world, I'd imagine it to contain some kind of magic. I mainly fantasize over the possibility of wizards, mages, fairies, kingdoms and so on. But that's where fantasies are splattered and split from reality.
It's tranquil, it's inspiring. Aramantha sat on a bed of flowers with a flowing imagination. She began reading about apparent mystical new worlds and picturing it to be right in front of her. She starts to conceptualise a whole kingdom right before my her eyes, where every person is perfectly happy, content and jubilant in their esoteric, non-existent world.
After a few minutes of simply enjoying the world she was seeing, it begins to shatter. Slightly taken back, she watches as the world crumbles and an invasion from an upcoming army of dark knights commences. The teeming world began to get vehemently pummeled with fierce raindrops. From the corner of her eyes, she sees the whole backside of a large figure instructing a large army behind them to invade the kingdom. The figure turns its head towards Aramantha and shows a malevolent smirk.
"Aramantha..." The figure slowly pronounces her name.
Feeling extremely overwhelmed and marginally frightened from the profound, deep voice, she closes her eyes in attempts to make the vision before her disappear. The intensity from the voice had an such an extreme effect which led to convulsions. Aramantha genuinely feared the safety of her real world for a moment. "I'll be the first to admit," She thought to herself. "My imagination sometimes does tend to get out of hand. "
She looks over to her best friend, Maurelle, to see her staring right back at her, examining her no longer tranquil state. She reassures her that she's okay by simply nodding and offering a small giggle, then looking back to her book.
Time slowly passes after the recent vision she had created, and Aramantha continued to feel Maurelle's eyes still glued onto her. She shifts from her position only slightly in discomfort and glances back at Maurelle. Her intense stare was beginning to make Aramantha feel not only uncomfortable, but anxious too. She was watching her like she were some kind of unknown animal, slowly achieving a smug grin.
"Everything alright?" Aramantha concerningly asked.
"Yeah." Maurelle quickly responded in a neutral tone, promptly diverting her attention back to her Vampire mystery book.
Aramantha raised an eyebrow to display her curiosity but decided to disregard the awkward yet brief colloquy. She looks back towards my book and start to think about how different she is when compared to Maurelle. Maurelle likes dark humor, she's into violent movies and all she reads are books that include Vampires, War or just generally any type of fighting. Aramantha doesn't mind it, they still get along great.
"Friendship does not depend on how much you have in common with each other, because what you have in common with each other is that you both love each other." She thought to herself.
"Isn't it great that we're finally moving into College? New experiences, new memories..." Her mind drifted. "It's even better that Hayden, you and I are going all together." She beamed.
"Definitely," Maurelle turned to face her.
"Well we only have today and tomorrow until we start, so maybe we should make plans with Hayden?" Aramantha suggested.
There was silence for a moment as she waited for her answer. She looked over to see Maurelle reading a text on her phone, her previous smile fading almost instantly.
"I would love to Ara," She paused, still looking down at her phone. "But something has just popped up - It's just a... family emergency." She nervously stuttered while giving her a quick smile.
"Alright," Ara paused while examining her. "I hope everything is alright."
Maurelle begins to pack her favourite book 'Dark Dynasty' , into her bag and stands up, ready to leave. Slightly confused at the sudden rush, Ara sees her quickly glance at her, while bobbing down quickly to grab her laptop from the place she was sitting a few seconds ago.
"I'll see you later." She muttered.
Ara watched as she slowly walked out of the park, looked behind her and began to run the other direction. She arched an eyebrow in suspicion. Left alone to her thoughts, she began to wonder why Maurelle always seemed nervous when leaving. She realised that she can't just assume she's hiding something from her.
"She's my best friend, along with Hayden." She concluded, trying to disregard the situation entirely.
But her recent actions provoked suspicion.
Ara noticed her always leaving while muttering and acting tense after dismissing herself.
"I just can't let her know that I assume she's hiding things from me just yet, so I plan to wait a little longer until I can have some kind of agreement from Hayden too. Surely, he would've noticed if there was something going on with Maurelle." She tried to reason with herself.
It was getting imperceptibly dark, Ara realised that she should get going too. She placed her belongings into her shoulder bag and began to make her way down the road. The whole Maurelle situation has continued to aggravate her. She couldn't seem to take her mind off the whole thing, and she wondered why it bothered her as it much as it has.
"Besides, it's all an assumption that she could be hiding things from me. If so, it might not even be that big or significant and would've been completely ludicrous of me to have stressed so much over it." She reminded herself.
Aramantha placed a hand to her forehead, sighing at the whole problem. She decided that she would drop the topic for now. She looked around the unfamiliar street she was on, and immediately halted. She had no idea where she was.
She hastily opened her bag and took out her phone. 'Of course," she muttered. Her phone was on 2%. She attempted to rush onto maps, until realising that there was no signal. Her phone dies almost immediately after trying to search for her location.
"Guess I should've expected that with my luck." Ara rolled her eyes.
She was extremely stressed. She has no idea where she is and her phone is dead so she can't contact any of my friends, my mother or Evan. This all being a result of her getting distracted over a frivolous assumption.
Whilst distressed, she commenced walking down the vacant street until something bright catches her eye. In the distance she sees something on the ground that's glowing brightly. She stood still for a moment in bewilderment. She finds herself drawn to it, heading towards the light on the floor. It's a puddle.
The broad, luminous puddle deliberately shifted its appearance, chiefly regarding its colour. It went from a mixture of gold and dark red to dark blue and silver. The cycle would repeat within a few minutes. She admired the radiant rays that were blasting from the puddle in utter ineffable awe.
She reached out to the puddle attempting to touch it to analyse what would happen. Her hand was soaked in the water, and when she retreated, her hand was covered in a glowing purple. Perplexed, Ara retreated to look around the puddle. After quickly scanning the area around her, she noticed there was a rectangular object not to far from her that she couldn't see quite so clearly.
She went over to examine the object that was so close to the glowing puddle. She picked it up, only to see that it was Maurelles favourite book, 'Dark Dynasty' covered in the Dark red, Black and silver colours from the puddle. A sudden rush of angst overcame Aramantha, and she hastily rushed off trying to find her way home.
