Chapter 3: The Night Of Betrayal
Once outside, I was half expecting a stretch limo or a grand carriage but to my surprise all I saw were two motorcycles. "What's with the bikes?" I asked terrified of the answer but I had a gut feeling that I already knew.
"Okay don't get mad but-," Harvey started but was too soon interrupted. "When you start a sentence like that your guaranteed to piss me off even more," Ingrid hissed, eyeing our mode of transportation.
"I wanted it to be different then any other cheesy prom Ingrid," Harvey scrambled to further explain his actions. "These babies have been sitting in our garage for months gathering dust. I thought I'd put them to good use. I even got our names put on them," Harvey paused then looked up at me with that heartbreaking gaze. "I just wanted tonight to be special," Harvey added softly.
Deep down I knew he had the best intentions and he did it all in attempt to please me. I fingered the paint job slowly as I read the paint. Our names were painted on in a bright blue cursive writing. Around out names was a heart. To show my appreciation, I did what any other reasonable girl would do. I gave Harvey a cute, little kiss and hopped on the back of the Harvey/Maddie bike.
Harvey smiled and walked over to me to put my matching helmet on. While he attempted to put on the helmet without messing my hair up, I half spied in Ingrid and Konnor's conversation. "My brother is a genius," she muttered to herself but Konnor answered back.
"He wanted it to do something cute and unique. Not that you know a ton about that,"
"What's that suppose to mean Konnor? If you don't want to take me please speak up now," Ingrid spat back.
"I...," Konnor couldn't say any more because Harvey intervened.
"You guys coming or what?" Harvey asked as he got on with me. Ingrid rolled her eyes before climbing on the other bike.
Riding there turned out to be a giant mess but finally we arrived at the most empty prom I've ever seen. All I could see is one terribly barren looking building. Everyone got off to take a closer peek only to discover glass and spray paint cans everywhere. The prom was clearly ruined and not going to happen. I picked up a piece of balloon that had been lying in the grass. "What a night," I grunted in annoyance.
"Hey guys check this out!" Konnor called over to us. We walked over to a large chalk board that read "Prom has been canceled due to violence and property damage." "Great just great," I kicked the board in aggravation. A big piece of paper that was lying on the ground next to the board, caught my eye.
"This Felicity chick is having a canceled prom party! We have to go!" Ingrid squealed in delight as she read over my shoulder. "We are even supposed to be in prom clothes so it kind of works," I added to Ingrid's case. Harvey nodded in agreement.
We all decided it was the best idea so we zoomed off in search of 323 Ocean Walk Drive. When we pulled up into the street by her house, I was slightly taken aback. It was almost as big as Harvey and Ingrid's house. It was completly brick and had a humongous fountain in the front yard. Not to mention there had to be at least 500 people here in prom attire. Ingrid grabbed my hand and pulled me to a spot where we were out of earshot from our dates.
"Listen I'm going to confront Konnor. Yesterday he was acting kind of nice but today he is acting completely annoying and rude. I can't keep up! So when we are about to talk I'm going to call you. Make sure your somewhere decently quiet and don't say a word!"
She didn't wait for my reply before shoving all four of us into the full swinging party. Ingrid pulled Konnor into a room as Harvey set off to find us drinks so I took the opportunity to go into one of the bedrooms upstairs.
