Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
But that kind of poem
Just won't do.
We've spent a millenia
Of time together,
But knowing our ages
That won't be forever.
So what to do
On Mother's Day
When you get out of bed
And yell
HOORAY!
What do I give you?
What should I do?
Something to show
That I know
There's nothing that could ever match you.
I'll write a poem!
That's the ticket!
No flowers
Or chocolates
Or a game of cricket.
A poem to show
My gratitude!
My appreciation
For a mother like you.
So to bring this poem to a close
I hope you feel as pretty
As a blossoming primrose.
To be complemented in such a way
I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day.
