Chapter 4
2026 16th December
This was serious. As soon as I finished reading that letter, I raced upstairs to find myself packing my rucksack. I paced around my room just as the radio turned on.
Brace yourselves for the worst winds of the century. Temperatures are lows of 22 degrees Fahrenheit tonight carrying on to Monday.
Great.
I searched up all the train stations around New York and there was only one to match his description called the Creek Oak station, which has been shut down a few years ago due to a mass murder that happened there. It was at the edges of the city and according to my GPS it takes at least 40 minutes to drive there. I won't be able to make it in time.
I threw my jacket into the back of my car and sped down the road. Without doubt I will have a speeding ticket at my front door tomorrow. After half an hour of driving, I was stuck in traffic. There seemed to have had a car accident just down the road and all these people were trying to get back to their homes in time before the storm starts. In this condition none of us are going to get back to wherever we want. I became restless. Time was running out and I had to save Damon, as a last resort I decided that the right thing to do was to get to the nuclear plant by foot.
I was running and running as fast as my legs could carry me. I knew I should've kept on going to the gym. At this rate I won't be able to make it in time before Damon gets lynched.
After a long run, I finally approached the big, barren building stood in front of me. On the building was a massive
scorpion graffiti sign. Then I looked down and the whole place was covered with scorpion graffiti signs. Looking up, sky had started to turn grey and the wind started to pick up a pace, lashing my raw flesh every time as it raced past. Rain drops started falling, faster and faster.
I wandered around for a while, shivering trying to figure out where he might be. Then, suddenly out of the corner of my eye I spotted a flashing light. I went towards it and I saw a device. The device was like a computer screen. I remember seeing something like that before maybe in the shops or something. A note appeared at the side of the screen.
