As I walked with my boyfriend Christopher to our tree I could tell something was wrong. Usually he makes jokes or holds my hand or tickles my neck. But right now he was silent and looking down. He kept both hands in the pockets of his worn and faded jeans. Tucked into those jeans he wore a red flannel shirt. He had on his usual boots and baseball cap. As it started to rain we stepped under the shelter of our tree. An old weeping willow out behind my house out in the big open field. There was a hallow spot in the center of the swooping branches and leaves where we would always sit and talk. It was our special place. Christopher stopped right in front of me and looked me in the eye.
"Kat..." he said. "We need to talk." I gulped.
"About what, Pookie?" That was my nickname for him. Everyone else called him Peewee. But I called him Pookie. He called me Angel.... it was our thing. He blinked rain drops out of his eyes. It was coming down a little harder now.
"I don't think this is working out..."
"What do you mean?" I asked, shocked.
   "We aren't working..." I couldn't breathe.
"But... But everything was perfect! I don't understand..... What did I do."
"You did nothing..... That's the whole problem..." He walked off. I turned and watched him walk away. Slowly I sunk to my knees. It was pouring. I couldn't breathe. It felt like a whole had been pierced through my chest.... Was everything really over. I sobbed. The question still haunting.

What did I do wrong?
