I wave the movers goodbye and thank them again for helping. I let out a breath, getting ready for a major decoration session. I tie my hair up in a bun thing, not really a bun but still out of my face, and get to work
I open the first box on the top of the three-box-high stacks. Yes, picture frames, score.
I unpack the first photo and hang it on the wall. It's an A4 photo of all of my friends and I at the surprise fair well party they threw for me. I smile looking at it and go over to the already step up big stereo and plug in my phone, INXS blasting through the speakers. I think over the night of the party as I unpack everything.

My best friend Chelsea and I drive from her house to the oval. She said she needed to talk just not at the house. This is weird, must be important. I'm leaving in four days and all my stuff is nearly packed apart from my bed and clothes and make up.
We pull up at the oval and jump out the car.
"So what's up?" I ask putting my hands on my hips
"Alright, Mia, I need you to trust me with this okay?" She says leaning against the car "do you trust me?"
"Yes of course." I nod slowly. She was the only person I trusted these days. Everyone else that I thought I could trust had bailed on me, Chelsea was the only person I let my self rely on.
She pulls out a long piece of cloth from her car.
"Chelsea?"
"Shh" she hushes
"Well this is kinky" I laugh
She laughs "just take my hand and follow me"
Chelsea guides me on to concrete flooring and through a doorway and onto carpet, I think. This may surprise you but it's hard to see with something around your eyes (if you can't sense the sarcasm). We must be in the club rooms.
Next thing I know, Chelsea's hand is gone from mine.
"Chelsea?" I say slipping off the blindfold.
Suddenly a crowd of my friends jump out of nowhere. "SURPRISE!"
The room is decorate with a 'bon voyage' banner and balloons and streamers
I put a hand to my chest gasping, hand on my knees bent slightly. Chelsea comes up to laughing
"Surprise! I know you wanted a dinner but I thought this would be better and you need a break anyway. You won't be able to have any for a while." She smiles
"Thank you so much" I hug her
A flood of my friends surrounds me in hugs
The night rolled on and the speeches come. And Chelsea goes first.
"Okay first I want to thank everyone for coming and hope you all enjoy the food and yeah um... So I remember a few years ago talking to Mia in the living room about our dreams and what we want. She said music. And I am so proud that she has made it and is moving to LA in 4 days. I have to many memories to share with you all about her but it's so hard to pick just one. She has been there for me always and I don't know what I'll do with out her. I'm gonna miss you so much." She started to tear up. "You better text me whenever you have the chance I don't care what the time is. You better do it." She laughs wiping away her tears. "I love you Mia and I know that you're going to great things. I'm so proud of you and good luck" she raises her glass to me and I run up and hug her with tears in my eyes
"Speech!" Some people tell at me"Alright alright" I say grabbing the microphone from Chelsea before she wraps herself around my leg.
"Um yeah thank you all for coming and supporting me over the last few months. I'm sure you're all aware that my family isn't here tonight because I what happened but I don't care. You guys are my family. I would like to thank Chelsea for everything. This party, being there for me and supporting and encouraging me. You guys all mean the world to me. You have all helped me in ways that I never thought possible..."I start to choke up, getting emotional "I'm following my dreams and no one group of people could've helped me like you guys have. Thank you all so much. I'll miss you all" I say as I start crying.
The rest of the night was spent dancing and singing the night away.

I dust my hands off looking at the newly decorated apartment.
Photos on the wall and everything setup nicely. Now for upstairs.
I trot up the stairs to the master bedroom. I open the first box of clothes when I notice a note on the bed.
Hey Mia!
Hope the movers were good for you and that you like the apartment.
Can't wait to start next week, so excited to meet you in person and kick start your career. We are all really excited for writing and hope you are too. We have some paper work to sign still and something else to talk about. If you don't have the address for the company building please message one of us or John. See you soon
Mike, Ash, Cal and LukeI smile at the note, putting it on the bed side table. I look around at all the boxes around me. This is gonna take a while.
