Glade sat behind the wheel of his navy blue Holden Commodore. He couldn't help but feel a little blessed to be himself right now. As he rounded the corner of Shaw street and East drive, he looked out over Gilchrist park. The time was just after 5:45 so he was slightly early. Oh well, he didn't mind waiting. He busied himself combing his hair and checking his breath. Though the latter should be fine, he must have downed a litre of mouthwash in preparation for this evening's date.

5:54, and still no sign of Macey, though he expected her to be precisely on time. There was something about her that made it seem as though she was a clock watcher, something he himself had been since he could read a clock.

6:02, still no sign of her. Glade took a  quick look around the park. It was winter so it was already dark enough to be a hindrance. Suddenly, Glade noticed a shape move from behind a tree that was situated a small way down the road.

He drove the car down, fronted it to the tree, opened the door and stepped out of the seat to see a bewildered young woman sitting in front of the tree, her hand held towards the bright lights of the car. Upon seeing her face Glade's heart skipped a beat.

"Macey." He called to her, leaning down to switch the lights to low beam, he spent a moment wondering why exactly he had his high beams on in the first place. He stepped over to where she was still sitting beside the tree. "Here." He extended his hand to help her up.

"Thanks, you have no idea how hard it is to walk in these things," Macey took his hand and stood up.

Upon seeing her standing, with her teal dress gently blowing in the wind, hair braided neatly down her back and fully illuminated by the cars headlights, she looked nothing short of stunning. He could feel his heart rate increase and could feel himself getting a little light headed. He managed to stabilise himself though, and led her to the passenger side of his car, opened the door for her and bowed as she stepped into the car.

He stepped back into the drivers side and put the car in gear.

"There's no need to be so formal, professor." Macey said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"Oh, I suppose not. It's just that..." he felt his heart rate quadruple as he stammered out the response. "you look very beautiful, I just feel as though my manner should be on some level of equivalency with your luminescence, yes?" He wasn't too sure what he'd just been aiming to say but it must have worked to a certain degree because she looked him in the eye, reached over and squeezed his hand reassuringly.

"Speak for yourself," She gestured to the expensive suit he was wearing. "That must be one expensive piece of evening wear." She giggled a little at that. "But thank you, you look rather dashing yourself."

He gave her a small grin, and looked back on the road. As much as he would love to look at her for the whole trip to Davis' house, he needed to get them there alive.

Macey looked at Glade sitting beside her. She couldn't help but think he looked like an actor, on his way to accept an award. He wore an expensive suit that seemed to outshine her own dress. She was certain he was attempting to impress her. She gave a slight giggle at that, it was adorable.

They pulled up outside Davis' house, a place Macey had obviously never been to before, and one she could tell Glade was not overly familiar with either. She could also tell Glade was a little embarrassed when he noticed that all the men were wearing simple casual wear, as opposed to his million dollar appearance. He recovered quickly from it though and stepped out of the car. To her relief, the other women appeared to be wearing similar things to what she was wearing.
