Darkness and dim yellow flickering lights littered the sewage network beneath the streets of New York, agents of the most Evil were slinking around the slippery maze and hiding in the shadows.
City workers could never detect them, because dark magic was on their side. Where there were these servants of Wickedness, there was the putrid smell of rotting eggs and technology failed.
Science pinned this odd sewage activity on gasses and radioactivity, but this was not the case by any means.
In this particular sewage system, a high ranking servant of the Evil was commander over all the lesser stooges in his area.
"According to recipe and traditions," he hisses, consulting an old tome with blackened pages. "Stolen purity must be added to the glass."
Sitting in a corner of the conjure chamber were two toad-like goblins, oozing glowing blue slime from their pores the slime cascaded slowly over their bumpy mottled skin. They pretended to be listened intently to their Boss' musings, but they were paying more attention to a scrumptious looking, soggy rat skirting the edges of the chamber.
"Traditionally I might use edelweiss, but I'm not in Deutschland any longer. I must find something here to replace it..." The boss grumbled, stroking his slicked back black hair.
He promptly turned on his heel to face the two goons, who perked up immediately. "Nilseft, you take your faction and scour the North." He commanded, stepping toward the stooges and stepping in a puddle of that glowing goo. His nose wrinkled, then he looked at the grotesque toads. "Tihkt, you will take the south. Alert me when you find what I'm looking for,"
The Boss suddenly dove on the ground, coming up dripping in slime with a wriggling rat in hand.
"Go!" He barked, licking his lips as the toads left. Once they had gone he unhinged his jaw and shoved the frantic rat, into his throat.
"Soon, I will be able to make the world suitable for my lord to walk upon. "
