"I can't believe it!" My best friend Krissi yells. "What?" I try to yell back over all the noise in the hallway. It's the last day of junior year, everyone is going crazy. "We will officialy be seniors the minute we walk out the door!" She explains to me as she runs away to meet her boyfriend Ryan.
I grab my bag out of my locker and wait for Jake to meet me at Miss. Pottsville's room. Jake is my all time best friend, ever since he has moved here in second grade we have been inseperable. We're like an old married couple, but without the married part. As im waiting for Jake, everyone is saying their goodbyes to one another. I only have a few friends, I like the amount of friends I have, I don't need many people to make my life happy.
"Ava!" I hear briefly coming from somewhere in the hallway. I can't see over the mass of bodies surrounding me. "Bug! Where are you?" I hear, Bug is what Jake has called me ever since we were little.
"Over here!" I manage to say. I try to stand on my tip-toes to see if he is near. "Finally" He breathes as he reaches me. "Lets get the hell out of here!" He says to me. I laugh when he grabs my hand and leads me out of the building.
I only live a few miles away from the school. When the Dallas sun isn't to hot, Jake and I will just walk to my house after school. The whole way home we mess around and act goofy, Jake always tells me that's what I do best.
"Stop." Hes says out of nowhere. "What do you mean stop?" I ask, "We're almost there!" I tell him. Jake says, "No, I mean just stop walking for a minute." He pauses and looks around." Do you hear that?" He asks. "Hear what?" I ask while trying to hold back my laughter. "You can hear the world wispering about our last meaningful walk together." He says. "Jake I-" I manage to say before getting cut off by him quoting Richard Bach. "Don't be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends." He quotes while looking at the sky. He is always quoting authors. Over come with emotion, I manage to choke out the words, "You are such a nerd." I embrass him in my arms and refuse to let go.
