A cool breeze traces her hair as she sinks her feet into the soft, unsoiled white sand. The sky is lit up a fiery rouge, the yellow sun its glowing centrepiece, gradually melting into the sea.
Clear blue waves tinged with pearly white foam lap quietly against the sand, layer upon layer folding away into nothing. She pads along the beach, behind her a trail of shallow footprints, ahead of her clear pristine whiteness.
In the corner of her eye she sees the hypnotic sway of the waves, and a gentle fragrance of salt water fills the refreshing evening air. The blue expanse stretches as far as the eye can see, eventually meeting the brilliant red sky. She is alone, but for a group of seagulls gliding across the sky, their calls intermingling with the soft whisper of the wind.
Goosebumps prickle at her skin, but not for the cold.
In the distance, jagged rocks rise like miniature mountains, growing from the sand. There the water is whiter, the waves are higher. Here the sea is a turquoise plane, smooth and unblemished. The sun has disappeared, though the sky remains a vibrant pink, dotted with the silhouettes of swooping gulls. She is heading towards the sea. As her toes touch the water she visibly shivers.
The water is cold, but she continues wading in, deeper and deeper she goes. As her locks touch the water they sparkle with droplets, floating behind her like a golden cloud. She is submersed, and all is left is a trail of shallow footprints in the sand... A temporary mystery, the silent witnesses soaring away, and the evidence devoured by the glistening blue.

Short Story'Clear blue waves tinged with pearly white foam lap quietly against the sand, layer upon layer folding away into nothing.' A short story I wrote when I was staying on the coasts of Devon, plenty of description, give it a read, it won't take a minute!
