An angel sent from above

You never believed in god and everything was going fine until you entered middle school. Finding friends wasn't one of your strong points. You weren't out-going and starting up a conversation with people you hardly knew was something you were afraid of, though you could never tell why. Like that, you always spent breaks alone and walked home alone. Of course, it got to you but that alone wasn't something you couldn't have endured.
What made everything turn really bad was that your parents started arguing during the time you were a 3rd year. Not the simple argument everyone has once in a while, no. You didn't know what they were arguing about, you didn't even want to know. Everyday your parents argued, slowly shattering their bonds and what you had known as your family, without even noticing their child starting to break. You started returning home late and when you were home you didn't leave your room.
Who could've blamed you though? You were alone wherever you went and at home you had to listen to your parents arguing until late in the night.

That was when you started praying to god. 'If there's a god out there. Please hear my prayer. I'm lost and scared and I don't know how much longer I can go on like this. I know it's selfish of me to only think of you now that I need help but I beg you anyway, please help me.'

You wondered how you even managed to keep going for a year. By now you were in high school but nothing had changed. You were still all alone. At least that was what you thought.
There was one boy who started to notice how you always stayed in the classroom even after school had ended. How you always went home around the same time as him even though he was sure you weren't in any club. How you seemed hollow, with no life in your eyes. How you were always alone.

One day he decided he needed to do something about it so instead of going to club practice he stayed back in the classroom with you. "You're doing homework?" he asked after watching you for a bit. You were shocked. Why was he talking to you? Okay, he was your classmate but all this time nobody had bothered to even try talking to you. "S-Sugawara-kun?" Your voice was quiet and shaky because you hadn't talked in a while but if someone had asked the boy how your voice sounded, he would certainly have answered that you have a beautiful voice. "You always stay here after school is over so I wondered what you were doing all the time" he explained when he noticed how confused you were. "Y-yeah. There's a lot going on at home. It's easier to stay focused when I'm here." It wasn't really a lie but it wasn't the whole truth either.
You thought the gray-haired boy would leave you alone again now but much to your surprise he stayed. In fact, he even helped you with homework and explained some parts you had trouble with to you. For the first time in a while you weren't alone.

The next day you were surprised once again. You had planned on eating your lunch alone in the classroom during lunchbreak, as always. Sugawara had other plans though. He asked you, if you wanted to spend lunchbreak with him. You had never seen the schoolyard during lunchbreak before but that day you were part of what seemed like a complete chaos to you. Who would have guessed that having lunch outside was so nice?
And starting that day you would mostly spend your lunchbreaks in the schoolyard together with Sugawara. You didn't know why, you had never asked but you didn't mind. In fact, you were happy. You were able to escape the dark world you had become used to, even if it was for just a short period of time. At some point the both of you even exchanged numbers. Not that you planned on calling him or texting him unless he would text you first. You weren't comfortable with doing that.
There was still one thing you never told him though. The real reason you always stayed back at school until the evening.

It was one of those days again when you would do your homework while Sugawara was at volleyball practice and later on the two of you would walk home together up to a crossing where your ways parted. It was a beautiful night with a clear sky and stars sparkling brightly along with the shining moon. Nothing was indicating that the night to come wouldn't be a nice one.
