[ Prologue ]

      Gregory House," The judge said. "Stand please."
The ornery doctor stood from the table. His light blue eyes gave a quick glare at the small blonde girl sitting at the other table, with her hair in two pony tails.

"Do you, Gregory House, promise the court to take care, and be a guardian of Elizabeth Fiona Muddiman-House?" The judge asked.
The doctor rolled his eyes and sighed. "If I say, 'I do' does that mean I have to kiss you? Because if I kissed her that would be child molesting."

The judge sighed. "Or we can put Elizabeth in social services and direct her to a family that would take care of her."
Gregory House shook his head. "No. I want to be her guardian."

The judge nodded. "Let me ask again: Do you, Gregory House, promise the court to take care, and be the guardian of Elizabeth Fiona Mudd — "
"House." Gregory corrected. "It's Elizabeth House."
Once again, the judge nodded. "Elizabeth House."
Gregory nodded. "I do."
The judge smiled. "You may now be the guardian of Elizabeth Fiona House."

As a smile, Gregory curled in his lips and looked at the six-year-old. Elizabeth stood from her chair with the Social Service Lady helping her get a jacket on.
With a glare, the lady walked over to Gregory, with Elizabeth at her side.

"Okay Izzy, this is where we part ways." The lady smiled down at the small girl. Elizabeth didn't say anything, as she ran and hugged Gregory's legs.

He rolled his eyes, knowing how embarrassing this was going to be.
"Please take me away from her." Elizabeth whispered. Gregory's blue eyes widened as he looked down at the small girl. The lady, however, was not amused.

A smile tugged at his lips. He picked up Elizabeth, and held her in his arms.
"If you don't mind, I'll be taking her off your hands." Gregory held his hand out, as the lady gave him a pink backpack, and a small suitcase. "Thank you." He smirked.

With that, Gregory walked out with his niece in his arms. It took a few tweaks in the paper for him to get the chance to keep her, he needed to seem clean.

At first, he didn't want anything to do with the kid, but seeing how clever the child was changed his mind.
Elizabeth was a child genius. She skipped preschool and kindergarten, and went on to first grade work.

What she adored was biology and human science, like her uncle. After all, he was a doctor.
