When we entered the Great Hall, mostly everyone was seated, other than the first years of course. Whispers immediately broke out, about the Golden trio and their friends. Of course, since now the entire Wizarding World knew about their quest to find the Horcruxes. They had so much paparazzi following them that they had taken to using Harry's invisibility cloak whenever either of them went out. It was so much of a hassle because now only one of them could fit underneath the cloak.
We sat down and waited for the first years to get sorted.
"MCKANDO, SHAWNDA"
The four of us were betting one galleon each on which house all the first years would get. We could only say each house once, so whoever calls each house first cannot be copied by someone else.
I said Ravenclaw and Ginny said Gryffindor. Harry chose Hufflepuff and Ron chose Slytherin.
"RAVENCLAW!""BRENT, JAROD."
I chose Slytherin and Harry choose Hufflepuff. Ginny chose Slytherin and Ron chose Ravenclaw.
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
We continued this game until all the first years were sorted. I won 17 of the students, Ginny won 13 of the students, and Harry and Ron won 5 each.
Harry said, "Why do the girls always have to win anything that involves thinking? Why can't we even win once for a change?"
Ron replied with, "We can always beat them in Quiddich any day, mate."
"Excuse me Ron! You are talking to the future star chaser of the Holyhead Harpies." Ginny yelled at him.
"You haven't even gotten accepted yet Gin. They won't take you."
"Actually, they already did! Which you would've known yesterday if you weren't stuffing your face in anything edible near you!" she retorted back.
Ron couldn't say any more due to all the food that appeared on the plates.Harry P.O.V.
About halfway through dinner, the topic of Malfoy came up. We glanced at the Slytherin table, where he was at the end of the table, smiling with Blaise and Theo. Towards the beginning of summer vacation, I ran into him at the ministry, accompanied by Blaise and Theo, where we chatted for a while. They all apologized for everything they had done and how their fathers had forced them into everything they had done. We had instantly became good friends. I hadn't told Ron and Hermione yet about the friendship, because I was scared on how they would react, more specifically Ron. Every time I told them that I was going shopping alone, I had been going to Malfoy Manor to hang out with the guys. We actually had so much in common. I really had a lot of fun with them. I knew that I would have to tell Ron and Hermione soon, before they find out on their own.
Hermione said, "I think that he has changed after the war, because his father isn't here anymore." Okay, so maybe Hermione will be okay with our friendship.
Ron replied with, "Who cares? He is still a Deatheater who murdered innocent beings." Okay, so Ron will definitely explode if I tell him. Typical Ron.
Before I gave any more thought on the subject, McGonagall stood up and stood behind the golden owl.
"Welcome students, to a new year of Hogwarts. I would love to rewelcome the eighth years back to retake their seventh year because of the lack of students actually learning without any distractions last year." At this, all the students again turned to the Golden trio. It got really annoying after a while.
"Also, would the eighth years stay behind for a few minutes. Prefects, lead your house to their dormitories!"
At this, muttering and whispers broke out among the eighth years. Nobody had any clue to why she would make us stay behind. Hermione said that she was probably going to talk to us about the war. Great. Just what I needed. Another speech on the heroes of the war, which just had to have included me.
McGonagall stood again and said, "Sorry for making you late to your dormitories, but the Ministry has put in a request for the eighth years, which will promote house unity. Since there is no more room for you in your house dormitories, we will sort you into groups of eight. Each group will share one dorm, which includes eight bedrooms, a common room, four bathrooms, and a library."
The hall was quiet. None of us knew what to make of this new law. It could be good and bad at the same time, depending on who you get partnered with.
"Now, I have the groups decided already, so I will announce them now. Find the rest of your roommates and sit down together, away from other groups."
