When Best Friends Get TOO Close

Chapter 2

"I had a long day ahead of me and I was super tired because me and Dante were on the phone all night. But I have to stay focused because we have a basketball game today." I'm thinking to myself while I'm trying to get my books for class. Next thing you know Harmony and Jennifer walk up and slam my locker shut. They scared the shit out of me.

"Hey Jas, you ready for the game today?" Jennifer asked.

"I should be as hard we were practicing yesterday." I answered.

"Right, Coach was doing the most yesterday." Harmony said.

*Bell rings*

"I see yall at lunch." Jennifer said.

"Ok." Harmony and I responded.

When we got to class, I noticed Dante wasn't there. I was really shocked since school is mandatory the day we have games. I started to wonder where he was, so I texted him but he didn't respond.

A few minutes into class, he walked in with a note from the office. I mean mugged him all the way to his sit because he could have responded to my text.

I didn't say a word to him until lunch even though I really wanted to but my anger wouldn't let me.

Finally Dante broke the ice.

"Are you ok? What's wrong?" He asked.

I wanted to go off on him so bad because the biggest idiot in the world could figure out what my problem was but instead I simply answered, "Nothing, I'm fine".

I knew he could tell I was lying because his left eyebrow rose like it always does when he thinking about something. Then he took my hand and led into Mr. Johnson's classroom and said, "Now we're alone so you can really tell me the problem."

He gone look down on me which is making me feel like a little ass kid because I'm only 5'6" and he 6'5". So I walked up on him and stood on my tippy toes and said, "Didn't I tell you I was fine. DAMN!!!"

"I didn't ask you how you looked. I asked you what your problem was." He said with a smirk on his face.

I couldn't stand him because he always tries to make me laugh or smile when I'm mad. THAT IS NOT IN HIS BEST FRIEND JOB DESCRIPTION!!! But I gave in anyway and smiled and said, "I can't stand you."

"I know and it's ok. Can you answer my question now?" He said.

I finally told him why I was mad and he said, "I didn't get your text because my phone was off."

"Whatever." I said while pushing him then I walked out the classroom.

When we left the classroom we started to walk to the basketball courts. I looked left and noticed Brittany staring at me so I walked over to the area she was in and asked, "Do have something to say to me or do you have an eye problem?"

"Girl no I don't have a problem." She said while smiling with her big ass teeth.

"Ok I was just making sure." I responded as calmly as possible. I didn't want to start a problem with her because we have a game and I don't want that drama on the court. So I just walked away and went to go look for my girls before class. I only found Alexia because I heard her loud ass singing.

"Why the hell you so loud?" I asked Alexia.

"I'm not loud, I'm just using my outside voice." We both started laughing because I knew she was hella serious.

"You hella crazy." I say still laughing with tears in my eyes.

"Whatever. Anyways, you ready for the game?" She asks me.
