The past two weeks have been dreadful. With an entire castle to look after, one may get a little delusional. The trees scratch at the Windows, taunting me; while the floorboards creek occasionally outside of my chambers.
My days pass quickly, filled with non-stop activity. Dust the chambers, feed the livestock, shine the silver, milk the goats, check the locks on the royal room where the Mcallister's most prized possessions are... It's exhausting. Shouldn't there be more members to assist these needs?
With another day tucked under my knickers, I lay on my cot, and think of my mother.
Her soft fingers would trail lazily through my hair when I couldn't sleep. She would tell me stories of knights that defeated enemies of the King, saving the whole town.
"I want a husband like that when I get older." I told her one day. Her response blinded me for a moment, and I still don't quite understand.
"Sometimes the greatest heroes aren't always the men with riches, Camille. See with your soul, only then will you know if he is true."
See with my soul? How do I see with my soul? This confused me to no end. Frustrated, I threw open the balcony doors, and sighed.
"Mother," I whispered at the stars. "let me see with my soul, whatever that may mean, let it be good and honorable. Let me make you and father proud.
A boisterous " twack " rang throughout the vacant halls. My heart clawed its way through my throat, as I fervently glanced down in search for the guards who were supposed to stand at the doors.
They were no where in sight
I sucked in a larger breath, calming myself, before fetching the umbrella by the door to use as a weapon in case of an intruder.
"Maybe it was Louis, " I thought hastily. He always went through the cupboards around twilight scrounging for a snack.
I creeped quietly down the hall, avoiding the creaky steps, umbrella raised and ready to strike. I approached the noise, slowly turning the corner.
I screamed, hitting the man, at least I think it was a man, on the head knocking him out cold.
*Harry's pov*
"Okay, Harry, tell me the plan one more time that way I won't forget?" Louis muttered sheepishly. I just rolled my eyes.
"Lou, I've said it five times already. You have the easy part. You walk up to the guard at the from gate, say you think there is a problem with one of the Horses, and I will sneak in, grab what we want and get out. Ten minutes, tops."I say confidently."Right, ten minutes. I can do this."
"Yes, I'm finding your lack of faith a bit disturbing, lad.(A/N: any Star Wars geeks besides me?... No?... Okay)" I chuckle playfully.
"Meet me back here by ten, don't be late."
He rolls his eyes, not intimidated by me in the slightest. "Sure sure"Night came quickly, and soon we were on our way to the castle. When we reached the castle's edge, I gestured to the guards standing outside, I nodded and Louis took off running in the opposite direction, disappearing with the guards.
I edged slowly at first out of the woods, then sped up as I reached the entrance.
I slipped in quietly, letting the darkness consume me.
Padding quietly across the tile, I entered room after room, finding nothing of value. Until I saw it, a chamber down the hall. That had to be where they were keeping it. Smiling slightly I rounded the corner, my eyes locked on my goal. Being the foolish man I am, I didn't see the wall of ornaments hanging on the ceiling and knocked right into them. They fell to the ground with a thunderous "thwack."
I muttered a stream of profanities before I ran into the nearest room, praying nobody was really here. Just as I was turning around to continue my search, I heard a blood curdling scream, and blonde hair enveloped my sight, before I succumbed to darkness once more.
