I hate weddings.

Yet, the plausible reason for that statement would be the fact that the first ceremony I would be attending is Sam and Emily's wedding. I wish I wasn't requested to stand next to her while she and Sam exchanged vows as a maid of honour. I wish even more that I didn't agree to do it without a second thought.

Jared and I had to follow the both of them down to Port Angeles to get fitted later that afternoon, and pick out dresses for the little bridesmaids, which also meant almost two hours of silence and self loathing in a car with them.

How ironic. Both Betas as best man and maid of honour. We should get married already.

Stop gloating. We were doing a perimeter patrol. The Cullens had some "non-vegetarian" guests over and we had to make sure they didn't hunt on our lands, as well as checking for threats that weren't always there.

Shut up, Quil. I pushed myself faster to get my duty done as swiftly as possible so I didn't have to share anything with anyone.

Yeah Leah, cut it out. Embry whined, trying to catch up to me.

Leave me alone. I seethed. Get out of my head.

That's not possible. You're forcing us to think about it.

Leave Leah alone man, Jacob told them. He must have phased somewhere because he wasn't supposed to be on patrol with us.

Since when were you on Leah's side of things? Quil mocked.

Since I found out how annoying you are. You practically live in my house you idiot.

High five Jake, I barked out a laugh.

Ew, no thanks, he said and I growled.

I tried hard not to think about anything and concentrating on the forest around me before I was standing on two legs again, throwing on my stash of clothes before they caught up.

It was unbelievably annoying to share my thoughts with them, or see their thoughts for that matter, but I was thankful Sam couldn't get into my head anymore since I was in Jacob's pack now. Sometimes, I want to shut everything out so I didn't need to fry my brain with the things they were thinking. About the way they thought about other girls or when they accidentally caught a glimpse of me.

I jogged away fully clothed before any of them arrived.

"Leah!" I heard someone call me as I emerged from the vegetation, whipping my head round to find Emily playing with Claire on the banks.

I jogged over to where they were and planted a smile across my face. "What's up?" I asked in a controlled tone. Every time I saw her, I couldn't help but blame her, blame Sam for what I was feeling but the rational part of me kept telling me it wasn't their fault.

"We're leaving for Port Angeles an hour earlier, we gotta get back early." She said and I traced the outline of her scars with my eyes too quickly without thinking, but she knew. Emily gave me a sheepish smile, although really it should've been worn by me.

"Why?"

"We might run late so, just precaution." She said simply and I nodded.

"I'm going to clean myself up." I said awkwardly, turning my back slowly to continue my way home.

"Leah...are you coming over for lunch? Later?" she asked timidly. I stopped my tracks, but didn't turn around, thinking about the offer. It was getting harder to reject her offers, to hold the grudge against her no matter how much I wanted to.
