Oak and Moon don't rember the fire .
But their mom does she hasn't been doing well ever since she lost her other kit "Oak?" Meowed Dusty
"Yes dad?"
"Just making sure you didn't wonder off"
"We didn't daddy."
"I wouldn't leave without you I'm to scared."
"Thats what you'll say for now until your at least 6 moons old."
"Why is mom so sad?" Asked Moon
"Well a moon ago, Me and your mother lived in a twoleg barn. It was a warm place." He started "Until some it caught on fire. Your mom told me to get the kits but a giant piece of wood fell in front of your brother. I couldn't save him...."
Well mommy still has us!" Squeaked Moon
"Yes she does" purred Dusty.
"I'm the biggest badest cat In
the forest" Mewed Oak.
"Whatever." purred Moon " you couldn't catch a dead mouse if you wanted to."
"Can we play over there, father?" Asked Oak.
"Yes but be careful." Mewed Dusty

Moon waddled up next to her mother and laid down.
"I'll sit this one out." She purred, scooting closer to Rain.

Oak was playing in a small creek near the nest.
When he had heard a noise in the woods. It didn't seem to bother him. He kept playing, swaying back and fourth in the water and trying to catch any fish that happened to swim past.

Oak felt something rake his shoulder with a soft paw, then jumped onto his back, digging claws into his pelt.

His attacker had a sent unknown to Oak.
His attacker released his grip and landed to face Oak. It was a kit around 6 moons old.
"Hi, I'm Owl." He mewed
"Hi, I'm Oak"
"Can I play with you?"
"Sure, but where is your mother?" Asked Oak
"Oh uh, she's dead."
Owl nervously shifted his paws on the ground.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Mewed Oak.  "Maybe you could live with me!"
"Really?"
"Let's go ask my dad" yowled Oak

"Dad, Dad!" Yowled Oak.
"Yes?" Purred Dusty
" I found this kit and his names Owl, but his mothers dead. Can he live with us."
Dusty looked at the tiny scrony kit
It's blue eyes glowing wide with hope.

"Yes." Mewed Dusty " He can stay."
