We walked hand in hand on the street, which was closed by the impressing aqueduct, like a wall at the end of the road. The stones were shining with gray-blue light thanks to the nearby street lamps. The area was surprisingly quiet. Only a few car passed next to us sometimes, while a soft wind swept through the buildings. Stray cats jumped into the shadows as they heard our footsteps.
"I would like to ask something," I broke the silence, then pulled Anna to a house wall and she looked deeply into my eyes. Her serious face didn't speak of emotions.
"I guess I already know what you want to ask."
"That despite the compelling factors... were your feelings true towards me?" I nodded.
"I know that your trust in me was shaken probably, Ron, but I can tell you honestly that I would have met you even without Ganz. All that we shared with each other and what happened between us... was true."
I couldn't stop smiling after her words. I felt happy and relieved. The spasm that clutched my throat was completely gone and Anna finally let her emotions come to the surface. I never saw her more charming than in this moment. I kissed her. I couldn't get enough of the sweet taste of her lips.
Few minutes later a taxi approached and I waved to make the driver notice us.
"Let's go back to the hotel!" I said, after my mouth became free. "The night is still young, don't you think?"
"This time we agree, Mr. Wyatt," she laughed then both of us got inside the taxi.
