I ran to my bed and jumped on it. I pulled my covers over my face and piled pillows on my head.
"Why am I handling this like this?" I asked myself. I heard the smashing of something on Justin's wall. I also heard my parents snores. They were out. Probably drank to much.
"Why am I just laying here!?" I screamed and sat up. I could be running.
I tossed the covers off and jumped up.
"Go to the cops." I told myself. I sprinted out my bedroom door. Justin was still banging around in his room. I heard the start of loud music as it blared out from under his door.
I rushed down the stairs and ran to the front door. I flung it open and ran out it.
I closed it behind me, hoping if he heard it that he wouldn't think anyone went out it.
I started to run to our driveway. Adrenaline pumping through my veins as I hit the main road. I had 15 miles to run but I wasn't going to stop.
I made it at least two and an half miles before I heard yells from my house.
"Get back here Hillary!" It was Justin, he knew I was gone.
I ran faster. Pumping my arms, making my legs go faster.
"Hillary!" He roared again. "Now! Get back here!" I wasn't stopping for anything. "Now! Or I will kill mom and dad!" I froze. But only for a second. I knew that they had taken care of me and all but they were not my real parents. Plus they are the ones that think made me mental, along with Justin. They were the ones to take me in, but Justin wouldn't actually kill them would he?
I kept running and I heard one of the four wheelers being turned on. It's engine rummbled to life and the sound filled the forest.
"Keep running Hillary." I told myself, breathless.
"You can run but you can't hide!" Justin yelled. So cliche! But I pushed that thought aside. I could hide.
I swerved off the main road and went into the forest.
I went deep, hoping to confuse him, he was the one who said it was useless to go through here. I am the one who travels through here constantly.
I went in circles and made two paths as fast as I could.
I heard the four wheeler approaching the main road I was next to. I scurried up a pine tree as far as I could. I got at least over half way up.
"Come out, come out where ever you are." Justin's voice was full of evil intentions. I held my breath. "You can't hide forever Hillary. I'll find you." I heard his footsteps come closer to the tree I was hiding in. I could feel my face turning red from not being able to let the air out.
I heard his breathing stop. I stayed frozen.
"You can come out now and I won't hurt you." He whispered. "Or you can let me find you and you will suffer. What will it be Hillary?" I really didn't want to get hurt but I really didn't want to be stuck in a house with him. "You have a minute to decide. If you don't come down I'll come up." He knew I was in the tree!? I very carefully stood up and started to climb further up the tree.
When I reached the top I quietly let out my air. I almost gasped for breath but I kept myself quiet.
"I'm coming Hillary. You made a bad choice." I felt the tree quiver beneath me. I shook with fear. He was coming up!
"Oh God!" I whispered.
"You are not really good at hiding." Justin said as he wrapped his hand around my ankle. I let out a small scream and began to kick at the part off him I could reach.
"Why are you coming after me?!" I yelled and landed a shot in his face, he let go and let out a animal like growl from deep within his throat.
"Your going to pay for that Hillary!" He sang in a sickly sweet voice, the same one he used to use when he was warning me that he would one day get me back.
"No!" I yelled as he reached his hand back up towards my ankle. I kicked at it again and tried to go just a bit higher. The branches slid even farther down as I tried to go up.
"Your going to hurt yourself!" He called, treating it like a joke, a slight chuckle on his voice.
I looked around me frantically and caught sight of a large oak, all I have to do is shimmy down this branch just a little farther.... I stretched out my fingers, reaching for the oaks branch without breaking the one I was so precariously perched on.
"What are you doing Hillary? You can't get away from me..." He growled, his sweeter voicedisappearing completely.
"Yeah, yeah, deaths doorstep, I get it." I said, somehow keeping a bit of humor, and a steady voice. I stretched a bit farther, my side beginning to hurt.
"Hillary, you aren't going to make it, you might as well give up." He said sincerely, it almost made me want to believe him.
Almost.
I reached farther and my hand wrapped around the branch and a grin crossed my face. Can't get me now. I stretch a little farther, making it to the other branch and landing with it. I feel my old branch break after I leave it.
"Good bye Justin!" I say and give a small salute, beginning my decent down the trunk of the tree, I hear Justin do the same in the Pine I abandoned.
I finished coming down my tree and looked up. Justin was still high in the Pine and it would take him at least two minutes to get down. I decided to take this chance to run. I didn't know where to run but I decided to run back to the house. He wouldn't think that I would run back there. I could get a four wheeler, gas it up and take off.
I began to run and heard Justin yelling after me. "Hillary!" He yelled. "Come back here!" I just laughed and ran faster. I ran in one direction to make him think I was going into the woods then once I was out of his sight I started back to the house. Hopefully he wouldn't catch me.
