Chapter 5
I set off earlier for school this morning, I was hoping to catch Layla before first class started.
As I walked through the car park I noticed Daley, Jess and Jade standing by a car.
"Hey guys, have any of you seen Layla?
" Morning Rhea, I don't think she's here yet, I got a text saying I couldn't get a ride today, she had car trouble, her brother is bringing her in." Replied Jess
"Oh ok, thanks, guess I will just wait for her"
" wait with us, We were just talking about the party on Friday." Said Daley
I waited with them. It was actually quite fun, Daley was hopelessly flirting with Jade and she didn't seem to notice.
It wasn't long before a black Audi sped into the car park. We all turned to see Layla and Luke climb out, I tried to get a look at the driver to it if it was the guy from the picture but he drove off too quick.
"Hey guys" Layla shouted whilst running over to us, she embraced me in a hug before dragging me off to our first class.
"Who drove you to school today" I asked her as we walked into Chemistry.
"My Dad, my car is busted" Layla replied.
I tried throughout the day to try and find out more about her family without seeming to much like a stalker.
At lunch all anyone was talking about was the big party on friday, apparently Layla's cousin had a huge house at the edge of town with a massive pool. I finally agreed to go along with them, I felt I could do with the distraction and It beat spending the night stuck in my bedroom.
The girls were going into the city after school to buy dresses and asked if I wanted to tag along. I phoned my Gran to check she didn't mind, I should of known she wouldn't, she was just pleased I was getting out and meeting people.
Jade was going to drive, I felt anxious about being in a car again but I managed to hold myself together by chatting with the girls and not focusing on the road ahead. After 25mins we were in the city, We parked the car and headed into the mall. Jess led the way, she loved shopping whilst Layla followed along behind moaning at the thought of entering the busy stores.
Jess and Jade were in their element trying on dress after dress till they found the ones they wanted. Layla picked up the first dress she saw and paid for it without even trying it on. After trying on a few I opted for a coral strapped dress that gathered at the waist then flowed to just bellow the knee, I choose some beige wedges and a clutch bag to match. Once we paid for our dresses we went for a coffee before heading back.
