Rory just woke up after along summer vacation. He wasn't ready to go back to school just yet but he had to. He woke up and got ready without waking his parents, who had work much later in the day, and off he went to school.
School had just began and already he felt the pain of being the biggest geek in the school. He stood out as much as a sore thumb because he refused to go along with the status quo. He wore a semi-fitted black T-Shirt devoid of colour except for the symbol of his Dota 2 team, the Twin Masters. He wore dark, tight jeans which had been ripped at the knees. His hoodie showed his love of Dota 2 with its logo on the back of the grey jacket. He never put the hood up because of his black beanie though. The completion of his attire was his leather messenger bag, carrying his Macbook, and of course, his glasses. He truly looked like the ultimate geek.
The athletic guys at school had already stolen his hat from him and he expected this. He always packed another one. After they left, he grabbed around in his bag for a few seconds and pulled out another one. There is just no way he would've gotten through the first day without that happening. His day went on as any normal school day. In class he would take notes and then just listen to music through his IPhone. He was in Sixth hour when his life drastically changed.
He knew that over the summer people moved to and away from the school, but to have a perfect match move to the school just like that was unthinkable. As Mary strode over to the desk next to his. He expected her to be the popular person being a geek as a cliché.
"Is this seat taken?"
"No."
"Thanks! I'm Mary Sayyad. I just moved here from Pennsylvania."
"Why did you move from Pennsylvania to Annapolis?"
"My brother is attending the Naval Academy. My mom wanted to move to stay closer, and to get away from my dad."
"Divorced?"
"Yea." She replied, while sighing.
From the first row, Emma shoots us a look and says, "Some of us are actually trying to listen to Mrs. Chapel. So if you could be so kind as to shut up, that would be great!" Emma is the most popular girl at school. She gets top grades. Rory has the theory that she sleeps with the principal's son to get the password to the computer system.
