I planned to be exactly where I had looked up at the sky, but was not. I was now in dark a dreary woods that looked the same but felt different. I heard rustling in the nearby bushes and quickly walked away from them, snapping a picture of my transport spot. I may need to return there sometime, it wouldn't hurt to know what the area looked like.
Bushes rustled on my right and I didn't know what to do so I ran as fast as I could deeper into the woods. I would assume it was deeper. The trees overhead got thicker and closer together, and the forest floor darkened under my footsteps. I looked back and noticed nothing following me, so I slowed myself to a walk, breathing hard and making too much noise for my own good.I finally got a chance to take a good look around, and what I saw on one of the trees astonished me. There were mouths on these trees, large gaping, wooden mouths, full of moss and bark, and all sorts of foliage. I stammered out a hello, but the tree didn't answer me. I told myself I was crazy for trying to talk to a tree, but there was something off about them, unsettling even. I heard heavy breathing coming down the path I had ran through in the forest so I ran.
I was running as hard as I could, jumping over streams and ducking under logs. But I could not seem to shake whatever was chasing me. The next turn I took, I turned a little further and ducked under a rock. I heard it stop, take a deep breath, cough, and then turn and rustle back into one of the bushes. It was going to wait me out.
Sometime in the night I must have fallen asleep, and when I woke up, I was surprised to have all of my limbs still intact. I knew it was still out there waiting, so I would have to make a run for it. I braced all of my courage, and sprinted out of my hiding spot, as I passed one of the bushes I heard a groan, like someone waking up. I almost stopped when I realized it must be whatever was chasing me and kept running down the makeshift path.
I ran into a clearing and looked around for any signs of life. There was none, no one had been in this clearing. I heard the breathing behind me again, and lay flat on my stomach to hide myself from whatever this thing was that was chasing me. I noticed something glinting under the dead tall grass. I reached under and pulled out a small knife, not fit for fighting but good to hold in my hand anyway. It made me feel safe. So safe in fact, that my adrenaline, had me get up to face the beast myself. I got up, and heard deep voiced laughing coming from everywhere. I looked around and it was gone. The laughing stopped and I stood, with my shaking hands gripping the knife, scared out of my mind.
I suddenly realized the absurdity of the situation, I had transported to a strange place, heard a noise and started to run, now I was standing in the middle of a field, with a knife in my hand ready to fight a beast that was most likely a figment of my tired and thirsty imagination. I turned to look over my shoulder and there stood a large black creature. It almost seemed to grin at me with unnaturally white teeth in between jet black tendrils of fur. I gripped the handle of the knife in both of my hands, stopped thinking, and just waited for it to attack. I knew I wouldn't be able to get away by running this time and as I saw the creatures muscles tighten up to start a charge and I raised the knife so it could see it.
Fear spread across what little face I could see of it, and it backed off and stumbled a bit before regaining its footing and getting ready to charge. For some reason, it was afraid of this knife. It was a ordinary knife, I thought examining it, making the mistake of taking my eyes off of the creature. Before I knew it, it was on top of me and all I could do was slash away at the greasy mess of fur in front of me. I heard a sound and it rolled off of me and into the woods.
I didn't dare to look down to see the damage it had done to me. I got up, careful not to look down and see the damage, but felt warm blood dripping down from my stomach onto my legs and below. This wound was going to get out of hand if I didn't care for it soon. I still didn't dare to look down to assess the damage. Stumbling through the forest I came to a stream, not sure if it was the one I had jumped over last night or not, and still wary of what might be lurking in these woods I cleaned much of the wound that I could feel. I knew I would go into shock if I looked down and saw the blood.Bumbling through the forest, I fell when my foot caught a fallen tree I was stepping over, and I fell hard onto my stomach. I realized that I still had the knife in my hands and put it into the loop of my belt and got up from sprawling into the dirty forest floor. My wound was almost certainly dirty now, and would be infected soon. I felt liquid fall on the top of my head from the branch overhead. Great its raining I thought as I kept walking, while wincing from the pain. While walking, I came to the realization that I had no supplies and was not prepared to survive in the woods for god knows how long, especially if I was going to have to so much running. If I knew I would be running, I would have brought a pack, some food, matches, pretty much anything other than what I had brought.
There was movement behind me, no breathing but just movement. I turned around too fast and when I started to run I fell flat on my face, quickly got up and sprinted, wary of the blood spilling out of my gut. I was very tired now and had no more adrenaline in my veins to go very far, I was hoping to run across a settlement, or at least get out of the woods. I saw what might be an end to the woods t the end of the path when I was pulled down by my legs and fell hard onto my face and felt blood spurt from my nose. It was broken. Now I was being dragged away back down the path by this beast. The knife! I remembered the knife, grabbed it, and drove it into the base of the creature's assumed neck. It let out the most unholy noise and sunk it's teeth into the base of my neck, just as I had done with the knife. I was covered in so much blood. And I didn't know which was mine, and which was the creatures. I tried pushing the body off of me and when I looked down, the wound on my stomach was gone, no scar, no blood, my own stomach. I reached around my neck and found that, that wound was closed also, however that one had scarred. I tried one last time to get the body off of me and it slowly slid off, so I could stand up and look down at myself, I was covered in dirt and blood. I would describe it as bloody mud. Turning to face the direction I saw the light from, I started to walk toward it, stumbled a few times but finally got out into the open, it was a vast field that had houses and a castle at one end, and many cottages at another, so I started to walk towards the nearest one.
