Chapter 5: Lady of the Night

Hotaru

I smiled at myself after hearing what I just need to know.

That’s right! I put on a tracker on Ichigo. It wouldn’t be fair that only Natsume knows it, but for now I’m gonna be silent of what I know.

I looked at Ruka’s direction he has been restless since that time when we met Ichigo’s brother Edmund.

“Eavesdropping on my sister are you?” I turned to the guys sitting beside me, his grey-blue orbs pinning me as if I’m a suspect. His messy blonde hair that’s  screaming to get done. Urgh! Did I mention that he is annoying as hell?! More annoying that Mikan when asking a question.

I did what I usually do when I sense someone stupid or someone I’d hate, I pulled out my ‘Baka Gun’ and pointed at him. I watched him and he didn’t seem to be intimidated by it.

“Imai, I’ve been a fan of your work ever since.” He said in his serious voice. What the hell is he talking about? “You are our company's number one inventor.”

What the—you mean, no impossible! He’s just as old as I am! That’s right Fox industries is one of my buyers on my inventions but… “You couldn’t be…”

He smirked, “Of course I am, my sister is too, we manage a certain branch in our company.”

Oh…client or not but in this campus he is just an ordinary student. So I smirked and pulled the trigger of my gun.

Baka! Baka! Baka!

And he is down! I gave a satisfying smile as I turned my back from him.

I swear I’m gonna hate this guy more.

After a while Natsume returned with a very pissed off Ichigo. It seems like Natsume likes teasing Ichigo over Ruka who is obviously uncomfortable with Ichigo’s presence.

Now that I remember…I pulled out my spy camera and scanned it; there was a ton of pictures of Edmund, well because he is a famous Hollywood actor, then it was Ruka and Edmund, he was teasing him making Ruka blushed then came a blonde girl, Ichigo. Now here comes a burst shot of what happened.

Oh this one is good!

•Him catching Ichigo just in time before she hurts herself.

Ohh I’m gonna rich because of these two!

“Hotaru, why do you have that look.” I turned to the intruder of my visions of being rich, Yuu Tobita.

“That look, the money look.” He emphasized, making me smirk. Oh yes, the money look, because Ill be super rich with every shot I have. Specially to Ichigo since she is a well known actress. Ruka’s fans surely will be thrilled of course the paparazzi! Ill be rich! Rich! Rich! Hahaha

“Nee, Hotaru don’t you think Ichigo has a resemblance with Mikan ?” he ask, yet I just shrugged. “Yeah you’re right. But she can past as the beautiful version of Mikan.” I’m pretty sure Mikan will be moping about that.

That’s when we heard an out burst, “Ryuuuu-chan!”

Ryu-chan?

We turned and found Ichigo nagging Ruka, “It’s Ruka! Not Ryu!” complained Ruka getting a tint of red.

Ichigo grabs his arms, “Aww, I missed you souch then that’s how you pay me back?” then she smile which got every boy in the class envious of Ruka. Hehe Ill be rich.

“I’ve decided that while I’m here I’ll make you like me back! I’ll only stop when he arrives so don’t worry.”

Who is that “he” she talking about because it seems like Ruka stopped complaining.

“Do whatever you want!”

The past two days has been tiring, Edmund nags me. Ruka and Ichigo fights, its like seeing the Mikan and Natsume of before. But its clearly outstanding that both transferees are principal students and are equally talented. No wonder they are famous in the outside world.

I sat on my desk studying when I heard a knock on the door.

Who could it be at this time of the night? I stood up and opened the door and all words I knew vanished at that moment when I saw who my intruder is, with her long Auburn hair that reaches past her waist in which creates a wave at bottom, she warm browns eyes that conveys how much she wish to be here and her smiles, the had the same smile that has been on her ever since we were young. A smile that many people treasure and hope to protect.

“Hotar--ouch! Gaaah!! Hotaru! Waah its—Ow!” But of course its with instinct that my baka gun hit her, who knows it might be a dream or something, but I knew that I wasn’t hallucinating after I shot her. She’s already on the floor when I reached to hugged her as a small tear escapes my eyes.

“Geez Mikan, you could’ve sent a message of you coming here.” Wait why is she here anyway? Don’t tell me—I pulled away and stared criticizing her. “Did you—“ before I could continue she cut me off.

“No!!”

I gave her a questioning look. She shook her head, “Aren’t you gonna invite me in?”

My eyes widened and I invited her in, when we were seated  I gave her a look demanding answers. She sighed, “He let me out, saying he don’t need me anymore since my Steal Alice is gone.”

What?! “What do you mean gone?”

“When we were making Alice stones with Uncle Shiki I was only able to make one. He immediately informed that ESP about this making him mad, I’m not completely free for now I’ll be running some test for a week, after that will be a decision.” She said as if its not a big deal. Her Alice vanishing is just—Unbelievable! I feel like she’s not telling everything. “Don’t tell anyone I’m back okay? Ill be staying in the High School Department with my Uncle Kazu’s supervision. I just got out and begged to see you.” She said as she stood up walking near the window. “Waaah~ your room is so cool! It is just like Natsume! Oh and don’t tell Natsume I’m back okay?” she said while turning to me after taking in my room.


“I wouldn’t like it if he comes looking for me.”

Mikan then sat beside me and hugged me tight, “I missed you so much Hotaru.” At that moment memories of that day Mikan got locked in flashes making me tear too as I hugged Mikan back and pat her head, “Okaerinasai~ Mikan-chan”

Mikan and I did a lot of catching up, she talked about how her life has been for the last 3 years, bragging how much she has improved and such. She also told me about her dream of going to the beach with everyone in the class. She was the cheerful Mikan that I knew. Like she never faced those trials.

After a while she stared back at me and gave her best smile. “Hotaru, thank you so much for saving my twin.” She told me out of the blue.

I gave her a confusing look. She knew what I know?

“I better get going,” she said and stood up then walked near the door, “Hotaru, help me in keeping my sister safe. No, not only my sister but everyone else. That’s my goal for now.”,  And with that she teleported her way out my room.

Something is up, I knew Mikan long enough to know when she is telling the truth or lying.

Now she’s lying. Lying over something very important.
