Claustrophobia

Chapter 2

The elevator kept going down,the sound of grinding gears was deafening,if anything is down here,it would probably have heard us already.But at least we have guns and a flashlight.

Suddenly the elevator stopped.And a blinking red light attached to the roof of the little compartment came on.A scraping sound could be heard.I don't know if it was from the gears,or something completely else.

At this moment I decided to examine the elevator compartment more closely,there was wire mesh to prevent people from falling out,and doors on one side.I touched the wire mesh,and it went back,it was barely attached to the carriage.

Then something huge jumped on it,it roared at me,it's jaws were open and foam gathered around the corners of its mouth,it had a row of sharp teeth in its mouth.It looked like some kind of huge black furred dog.Its eyes were yellow.

The force of it slamming into the mesh knocked me onto the floor,spittle flecked from its mouth.The wire mesh broke off from the corner support poles in the carriage,and the big panel of wire mesh fell on me,and the monstrous creature on top of it.It snarled viciously and lunged at my face,I thrust my gun out and tried to use it to keep it off.The black furry demon seemed to not be affected by having a gun at its neck in the least.

I tried to push it off me,my left on  the barrel,and my right on the stock.But this seemed to only infuriate it more.A large bang rang out,and a huge hole appeared in the side of its head,and it was knocked into the compartment doors.Vladislav stood there,still pointing his gun at it,smoke pouring out of the barrel. 

Another monster similar monster jumped through the gap,only this time onto Vladislav,he was unprepared,as he wasn't looking in the direction.The monster ripped out his throat,it tore into the side of his face,it ripped out the flesh and tore it apart with its claws.

I was shocked by the sudden death of my last companion,so shocked I could not even think to shoot it with the large,loaded rifle I was holding in my hands.It then turned its attention to med,satisfied that Vladislav was dead.I could see its eyes,the eyes of a predator going in for the kill.I could hear claws scraping along stone.

The demon already inside the carriage with me lunged at me,but this time I swung the stock of my rifle at its head and caught it right in the eye,knocking it into the wall.

Suddenly the elevator started working again and the red emergency light turned off,replaced with normal lights.And the elevator started that grinding noise again,however,instead of gradually moving,it fell down the shaft,as if its gears had been dislodged somehow..

The fall disoriented both me and the creature,dizzying my head as it kept falling.

It slammed into the bottom of the shaft with an earsplitting crash.The lights smashed and shards of glass showered on me.Now there was no longer any light,but that of Vladislav's torch,which was laying on the ground.However I could still see its yellow eyes.They reminded me of those of a cat,but the whole thing was a lot more vicious than any feral cat you could ever even hope to meet.It snarled.I  pointed the barrel of my rifle at it,and squeezed the trigger.

All that could be heard was a huge bang from the gun,I couldn't see if it was alive or not,since the flashlight wasn't pointing at it.I nudged the flashlight with the tip of my gun,trying to turn it around without getting too close,I angled it so that the beam of light was resting on the what seemed like the corpse of the creature.

I got up,the doors were still closed.However the gap in the wall where the mesh was ripped out wasn't.It lead out to what seemed like a cave.I picked up the flashlight.I then realised that Vladislav hadn't changed the batteries,meaning they could hardly last much longer.
