They say your life flashes before your eyes when you are about to die. Well that isn't entirely true, only happy memories appeared for me which were a select few before complete and utter darkness swallowed me whole, I could hear what was going on around me I just couldn't see it. Sirens were far away and I felt like giving up until I felt someone tugging on me. I groaned to show them I'm still alive I opened my eyes slightly to see the person. "She's alive!" He yelled making me cringe from the noise. The young man was about my age and he was extremely gentle considering he had large muscles. His younger brother I assume was calling 911 and trying to explain what happened. I felt bad for them, I caused this accident, I drank the beer, I was driving while drunk but they didn't seem to care. They were true heroes not the kind you hear about in fairy tales, but true humans who were heroes. Minutes later two ambulances showed up, the first one took me because apparently I was in "critical" condition. The young man asked if he could come with me and they let him surprisingly. He kept murmuring words to me but I was shutting down slowly, my organs were failing and I couldn't help it. I wanted to die at that very moment I wanted to die, I didn't want to survive and see what damaged I caused I just wanted to die.
"Hurry guys she is dying!!" A paramedic yelled as my eyes were closing. The young man held my hand "don't die on me I don't even know your name" he pleaded and I believe that is what made me want to hold on. The mere thread of which I was holding onto for my own survival was making me slip but the desperation in his voice made me tighten my grip. We finally arrived to the hospital and I wanted to die but at the same time I wanted to stay alive for him. I remember being put under then just waking up in tremendous pain I yelped trying to sit up correctly. I think my yelping woke up the young man because as soon as he jolted awake he ran out and informed the nurse of something. The young man walked back in and sat by my bed he stared at me with his piercing blue eyes. "What is your name?" He asked "I'm Bethany" he stared at me for what felt like the longest time. With exhaustion washing over me I fell asleep not wanting to wake up but knowing I surely will.
