Axel's POV
I walk into headquarters and before I can ask for another mission, Xion rushes towards me and takes my hand, dragging me off to the side. "What the hell are you doing Xion?!" I ask her, confused as ever. I snatch my hand away.
"It's about Roxas...I think you should move on, let him go. If you love him let him go, let him be happy. It's not your duty to make him happy, Axel." She whispers and looks away.
"But..what if I can't. He means everything to me. He's my best friend." I reply
"Then keep it that way. Stay his best friend, no more, no less. He needs to be his own person, and maybe with you he feels you're holding him back. I feel you're holding him back. If you love someone and they don't love you, let them go. If they have a change of heart and come back, they're yours to keep. You need to let him go, Axel. Before he resents you." She explains to me and all I can do is nod, defeatedly.
-2 hours later, in my room at headquarters-
"-and so I leave you to be happy, even if it's not with me. You're still my best friend. Signed, Axel. " I finish writing a goodbye letter to Roxas, letting him know I'm letting him go, and moving on. After I write the letter, I stick it in an envelope and seal it shut, giving it to a dusk to give to Roxas. The dusk runs off in a hurry. I sigh and fall back on my bed, contemplating feelings. What feelings are, what they mean, and if I even truly have any.
