Kaia's face was inches from Leah's, and Leah knew Kaia was going to kiss her.
It was almost awkward, the ten seconds they stood there like that; not touching, eyes half-closed, waiting.
Leah had never been one to make the first move. In her head she was, sure, but now this was actually happening, it was so different.
Leah closed the distance between herself and Kaia.
Later on, she wouldn't remember the exact feeling she experienced. It was good, so good, but 'good' was not the right word. It didn't come close to even remotely describing the feeling.
Kaia's lips were very soft and Leah could feel the old scar on the other girl's top lip. It wasn't like Leah's first kiss with HER; they had went straight for it, everything happening at once. But this-
Kaia opened her mouth, maybe by natural instinct, and Leah's mind didn't even question it. Her body took over and Leah's hands placed themselves on either side of Kaia's face as she kissed Kaia harder, something she didn't know she'd wanted to do until that moment.
The kissing, it went on for two minutes, two hours - Leah couldn't tell. Anything that existed outside of Kaia and herself had disappeared.
And then Kaia pulled away.
The confused, bewildered look on Kaia's face sent a jolt of hurt through Leah - Kaia had had every opportunity to stop her and she hadn't.
"What did we just do?"
Leah had a feeling that was a rhetorical question, but after five seconds of hearing nothing but panting breaths (she was out of breath. Embarrassing.) she figured she'd answer.
"Hopefully something you'd want to keep doing, because I certainly do."
