Preston's P.O.V.

"Wake up sunshine, we're here." I whispered to Stacy as I softly kissed her hand. She rubbed her eyes and woke up happy and exited for our, as she calls it adventure. We stood from the seats with our backpacks. "I'm hungry." She looked at me with puppy eyes. "Wanna stop by a In-n-Out?" She turned and kissed me. "Yesss" She said. She held my hand as I looked up the directions. Then we waved to a car and asked if they could drive us. It came by the sidewalk, it was a drunk mid 40 man. We decided to pass just in case. Then the next car drove to the side, it was a 8 seat van, a lady in the front and 3 kids in the back. "Do you 2 need a ride?" The lady asked nicely. "Yes, could you drive to the nearest In-n-Out?" I asked her. "Of course, hop on." We came in the car, I was happy no one recognized Stacy or me yet.

We were almost at In-n-Out then the lady turned her head toward us. "Are you sure this is the only place you need a ride to, it's not too safe to hitchhike (get a ride from a stranger) around here." I felt uncomfortable asking, so did Stacy . But the Stacy quickly asked "Can you please drive us to Los Angeles Orphanage?" She was uncomfortable but she did the right thing, picked the safe choice, and asked. Then in a lowered soft voice she asked "Why? Don't you know the place burned. They say no one survived." Then Stacy pretended like she shed a tear.

Stacy's P.O.V.

"No one survived." That meant different things to people. No one survived could mean, not a single person of the group survived. But for me? No one meant I was a nobody/worthless person, that survived. But it was the best one that could ever happened. But I still wondered how the papers didn't burn, and why the "news" were looking for me.
