"Yes mom, I finished all of my homework," I roll my eyes and shake my head slightly. "Did you take your medication?" "Ma!" I raise my voice a little. "Ok...just be careful".

"Of course ma....don't stress yourself out." I say calmly.
I bid my goodbyes and hang up the phone. I look up to greet a familiar pair of grey eyes. Our eyes lock and I wait until he finally looks away. I notice the small smile on his face. If I didn't know him I wouldn't be able to notice.

"Matt...keep your contact eyes on the road." I say as politely as I can.

" 1.....these are real...and 2....you are so cute when you're upset."

" Not upset. Just a tad bit tired"

" I am going to assume that was your mother and that she is in freak mode again."

" What gave it away?" I inquire as I try my best to suppress a smile.

"You told me with your eyes" he answers while he points at his own grey eyes. I punch his arm playfully and he laughs a little.

"Not funny....hybrid."

He holds his hands to his chest to act as if he had been hurt. I nod with satisfaction. He stares over at me intensely, making me extremely uncomfortable. I wiggle in the passenger seat and put on my seat belt. The mood went from playful to scary within seconds. He pulls the car into a parking spot and silence fills the car. He unbuckles his seatbelt. He leans closer to me.

"But I still make you nervous hybrid or not" his voice unusually low as his lips brush my earlobe. This sends shivers down my spine.

"Whatever" I stare out the window and see the same old town I grew up in. He let's out a sigh and starts up the engine realizing I could care less about his comment.  To be honest I really don't care if what he said was true or not. I know that I get scared by him sometimes but he's my best friend. I can't really admit my fear to him. He knows that I fear him. In fact, he knew since day one.  Years ago when we first met he forced me into a friendship with him. I complied because I was terrified of him. Over the years we actuality became good friends although I still have fear of him.

"Nyomi Jackson....what shall I ever do with you?" He nudges his elbow into my side.  "Drive" I say seriously.

He whistles and gives me a playful smile. His smile is so adorable. I could just.....I shake the thought not knowing where that thought was leading to. He rolls his eyes and beeps the horn.  "Where is she?" anger clear in his voice.

"That slut? Probably complaining about how her body is too fat while fake crying!" I spit out.

He shoots me a glare. I shrug and look away from him and try to ignore the tension.  "Nyomi."

I look back to see who said my name. The back door is open and standing there is Chary. The slut I was talking about. She is wearing nothing but a silk black dress and too much make up.

"Chary. You haven't changed a bit. Still wearing make up to cover the guilt inside. Hate to break it to you but I can still see those wrinkles under those fake eyelashes." I insult her.

She smiles sweetly and gets into the car. "Yet I still get more guys than you. That means you are more ugly than my wrinkles and fake eyelashes any day." She combats.

I roll down the window. "At least I don't smell like desperation " I fan the air and turn on the a\c. Matt chuckles and looks at me with sincerity. "You shouldn't be laughing either Matt,  your stupidity reeks a whole lot more, because you sleep with her." I say coldly. He falls silent and gives me a glare. I blow him a kiss and he pretends to choke on it. I punch his arm again and start to flush.

"Let's just go before we miss the freaking party!" Chary snaps. Matt and I both sigh at that. Matt meets my eyes to make sure that I am ok. I give him a small nod and he pulls out of the parking spot.  Well here goes nothing.

Here's to taking risks.
