I walk down the patchy road, the breeze hitting my face moving my hair away from my face.  From a distance I see the school and people rushing to the school. I walk past Mrs.Jensen an old lady who owns a fruit market she tosses me an apple as I pass by. I catch it and sink my teeth into the dark red apple. "Thank you Mrs.Jensen" she smiles waving "Tell your father I'm coming to Sunday church" I nod "Of Course have a nice day" I walk towards the school in a rush knowing I've already lost enough time. I stop at the red double doors peeking into the small window gasping. After I calm my heartbeat down I open the door rushing in my face covered in sweat. Good thing my father doesn't let me wear make-up my face would've started dripping of mascara. I run to my locker mumbling under my breath "Good morning" to each teacher  that passes me. I stop at the white locker and lean my forehead on it, it feels cool. "Hey" I turn and find Jake "Oh hey Jake" he touches my forehead "Are you okay? You seem sick" I shake my head making my head pound "I'm fine" his face splashes with a worried look "You sure?" I nod "Yup" the bell rings and for a minute there i'm relieved. I walk slowly to the classroom and see a new kid sitting next to my chair. I sigh, he has dark black hair and light brown eyes his skin so pale. He looks at me when he catches me staring at him. I plump down on the chair putting my hair behind my ear. I turn to him "Hi I'm Nevaeh"  he turns to me smiling "Well I'm Drake" I smile back seeing his perfect white teeth. I turn my head back to the teacher "Everyone please welcome Drake Lynch" Drake gets up bowing "At your service" he sits back down mumbling "Princess" but only I could hear, I let out a short laugh. He turns to me smiling showing his dimpled cheeks and he gives me a small wink.

****** At last the day is over my head is pounding with the headache, once I get home I will lay down and fall asleep. Jake runs to me "Hey Nevaeh your father asked me if I wanted to help clean the old church and I said yes" I nod "Okay" he puts his hands in his pocket his two strapped back pack slung over his shoulders "You are going right?" I nod "Of course" he smiles "It's not like a date or anything" I laugh "Jake were only cleaning its nothing big" his smile fades putting his head down "Yeah of course"  we walk home. We finally get to the house my father smiles at the sight of Jake "Ah Jake such a good kid" Jake shakes my father's hand "Hello sir" my father smiles "Oh come on son" he grabs his back guiding him into the church "The brooms are in that closet" he pointed to a nearby wooden door. I start to walk to the closet but Jake stops me "I'll get it don't worry" I let him grab the brooms. He hands me the broom our hands brush for a second we freeze and stare deeply into each others eyes he leans closer. Jake comes in clearing his throat loudly cutting out our gaze between each other "Am I interrupting?" I grab the broom "No we were only cleaning that's all" he crosses his arms "Yeah well uh" he looks around "Nice place you got here" I gulp swallowing hard "Yeah its called a church" he smiles "Never heard of it" Jake interrupts standing in front of me in a protective stance "What are you doing here?"  Drake chuckles "Ouch. Isn't this supposed to a church" he smiles "Where everyone is welcome" he puts his hands up putting his fingers  as if he was quoting the words "With this god of yours" Jake still shows no expression that he finds this funny "You really think this is a joke" he shakes his head "Oh no of course not" he says in a sarcastic tone "Not at all" Jake rolls his eyes "Leave now" Drake touches his chest as if it hurt "Ow say it nicely. It crushes me when you talk to me like that" Jake is still standing in front of me "Leave now please" my father comes in "What is going on here?" Drake turns to my father "Hello sir I was just passing by"

My father shakes his head "I know you" he says pointing at Drake "Your mother sent you here with your grandmother I heard you steal" Drake shakes his head "Oh I don't do that anymore I changed sir" I walk in front of Jake "Dad he was just passing by" I look back at Drake "Weren't you?" he stares at me catching my gaze "Of course" he walks out of the church leaving it silent. After we finish off me and Jake both go home. My father is already at home dinner made and plates properly placed on the table. I open the door making the door creak. I sit on my chair as I was about to dig in my father interrupts me "Now lets say our prayers first" I sigh "Yes dad" We grab each others hands and close our eyes "Thank you lord for the food in front of us, I hope you forgive all sins of all children" he clears his throat "Amen" I repeat right after he finishes saying it. I walk upstairs after dinner and lay on my bed and look at a picture of me and my mother "I'm trying mom" I touch the cold glass "I'm trying to live with dad I promise I won't run away from him again" my mother is gone I promised her I would try to live with my father but he wants me to be the perfect church daughter who loves to read the Bible but I can't be what he wants me to be.
