|Chapter One|
Dakota awoke when the school bell rung through her ears, everyone stood up, packing their books away into their bags and backpacks.
"Dakota Harmon." She heard someone speak.
She looked around to see her English teacher looking at her with a frown.
"Could I have a word with you please?" She asked.
Dakota nodded and sighed, she hadn't had a good night sleep, she had been having nightmares again, they weren't like normal nightmares, when each time you had one it'd be different, no. These nightmates were recurring.
Dakota stood up, brushing her long black hair from her pale face.
Her hair was actually wavy, but she never failed to straighten it in the mornings, even if she was staying at home for the day, she'd always make sure her hair looked good.
She walked to the front of the classroom when everyone had left and stood infront of the teachers desk.
"Now." The teacher began. "I've noticed how unfocused that you've been lately in lessons, and I've never had to speak to you about sleeping in my lesson."
Dakota knew what was coming, so she just stood there and listened.
"Is there anything that's troubling you? Please, tell me so I can have a word with Tom." She said to Dakota.
Tom was Dakota's psychiatrist that worked in the school.
Ever since the accident two months ago, Dakota has been seeing Tom every four days.
"No, nothing is happening that Tom needs to know about. I just didn't get a very good sleep last night, sorry for falling asleep in your lesson, one moment I was wide awake, the next I was gone." Dakota lied, biting her lip when she finished apologising.
The teacher looked puzzled for a moment, almost like she knew that Dakota was lying to her, but she shook it off and nodded.
"Okay Dakota." She replied. "Thank-you for speaking to me, and I promise, if you ever need to speak to someone, go straight to Tom, he's hired to help you."
Dakota nodded, smiling a little. "I know. Thanks."
With that, Dakota grabbed her backpack and started heading to her locker.
The day was finally over, which meant Dakota could go back home.
She didn't like going home very much, because now she was forced to be alone, no parents, no other relatives.
Alone.
