Naruto Uzumaki and the Rebirth of the Uchiha

A Leader's End

          The sixth Lord Hokage had barely begun to settle in when a small Genin rushes into his office panting and out of breath,
          "Lord Hokage, come quickly, the council says you must come now!" The young ninja grabs Lord Shikamaru's and tugs him out the door
          'Man what a drag, barely even been Hokage and I'm already being herded around like an animal,' Shikamaru thinks to himself pulling his hand away from the young ninja,
          "I can walk on my own,squirt. Thanks though."
           The Genin leads Shikamaru to the roof of the Hokages' mansion where the council awaits his arrival to officially swear him in as Hokage.
The council leader places his hand on Shikamaru's shoulder and begins reciting the routine Hokage oath, "Shikamaru Nara, will you take the position of the sixth Lord Hokage of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, to lead this village to peace and prosperity in your time of need, to push the people of this village to excel and prevail to make this village a stronger one, and to emerge victorious from any conflicts it partakes in?"
"Yes, I will," he replies wholeheartedly.
"Well, that said, you are now officially the sixth leader of this village," he takes Shikamaru's arm and lifts it in the air, "Hokage Shikamaru!" He shouts. The villagers viewing from below cheer and applaud their new leader.

-----the next morning-----

Shikamaru awakes in his room and rises to begin his first day as Hokage. He gets dressed and heads out to get breakfast.
He's walking down the road in the village and spots the number one hyperactive knucklehead ninja sitting down at his favorite noodle shop, Ichiraku Ramen. He wanders over and finds a seat next to him.
"So Naruto, how's it going with your training?" Shikamaru opens with the question looking to starts some small talk.
"Can't talk now, I'm eating," Naruto says with his mouth full of barbecue pork.
"You really are a knucklehead, aren't you," Shikamaru says looking bored. Naruto downs four more bowls before turning to Shikamaru to answer his question.
"My training's going great, I'm learning lots of new tricks and a couple new Jutsu's too!" He says with a childish grin, "How's it going with your Hokageship?" He chuckles at his made up word.
"It's alright so far but it's a lot of responsibility. It's kind of a drag really,"
"Still don't know how you got to be Hokage before me but I'm glad for you," He says wiping his mouth with his jacket sleeve.
Shikamaru smiles and stands up, "I don't know either. Well, I'll be seeing you," he says with a wave as he continues down the dirt path.
He heads through the woods to a hill where he sits and lies back to watch the clouds go by like he always did when he was younger. As he lies and watches the sky he falls into deep thought as he tries to decide what the first thing is he'll do as a leader.
After about half an hour he returns to the village and back to his mansion. He speaks to the council about organizing a group of advisors to help him make decisions and they agree after a short while of debate. He goes through the files of every resident of the village to help him choose who to pick for his advisory cabinet. He sets his mind on five ninja, all of them readily equipped with the qualities he had been looking for. He decides on Sakura Haruno, Choji Akimichi, Neji Hyuga, Ino Yamanaka, Kiba Inuzuka, and with the permission of the council, he plans for Naruto Uzumaki to become the next hogans after his time is up.

-----The following week-----

Shikamaru, with the help of his advisors, has helped the village prosper in many ways, mostly in the academic field as far as training new ninja.
He lies awake one night feeling uneasy, unable to sleep. He finally is able to doze off and rest for a short while. His uneasy feeling wasn't for no reason however, for while he slept, two unidentified masked ninja snuck into the mansion and assassinated Shikamaru silently and unnoticed. They crept out and returned to where they came from. His body is found the next morning with stab wounds, clearly left by kunai, by his educations secretary, Ino, in the early morning.
Just as requested by the late Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki is quickly sworn in as the village's seventh Hokage and he resumes Shikamaru's unfinished plans.
