Julie's POV
Past few days have been extraordinarily normal. Yes, normal. My life has been through so many ups and down that normal seemed weird now. All these years I learned from my mistakes and improved myself, and one of them was - always expect the unexpected. So that I can be mentally prepared for any type of situation. But now my life was normal, wakeup ,school ,work ,eat (maybe) sleep, repeat, thats it no bullies. But somehow it felt wrong just like how sea is calm before a tsunami. And I knew something bad is going to happen, but there is nothing I can do about it.
I woke up with a sore back which is normal to me, waking up with pain. The only type of normal I was familiar to. I did my usual chores with little help of June, my daughter my most precious possession.
After getting her ready I left her at Ana's. Ana's daughter runs a preschool. I being her mother's friend she teaches June at much lesser fees.I got back home and packed my bag and decided to go school despite a sore back. Things were pretty normal at school too, which kinda floats my boat. I don't run into Cole or his friend Dyran anymore. The only time I see them is in the canteen. Which I try to avoid. But to my surprise they don't acknowledge me at all except the occasional stares from Blake. I think they got bored of me. I knew this had to end, but even I didn't expected it to end so fast and peaceful. Maybe Blake had something to do with it and one of these days I am gonna go up to him and thank him. I might hate them all but that's no reason to not be grateful.
Most of the time when I don't feel like eating, I skip lunch and go to the library. I cannot help but be intimidated my the soothing silence of the library. And I also made friends with the librarian - Emily, she is this really sweet old lady that offers me her cookies. But unfortunately she is a childless widow. She finds solace of a daughter in me. I can't help my feeling of sympathy towards her. After all worst thing happen to good people.
Rest of the day went by pretty fast. Before I knew it the school bell rang and I was struggling through the crowded corridors to make my way to the main gate. And again to my surprise I wasn't tripped or pulled into an empty classroom. Nothing came my way and I went straight through the main gate to the street. The weather was sunny just like my mood, warm and happy. I took a moment to appreciate the weather and then walked towards Cocobean.
I had an early shift at Cocobean as I was covering up for Ana, who was sick. I already call June's tutor Eva to inform that I will be late to pick her up. Everything was perfect, the day was going smooth and most of all I was happy. Apparently that was visible to everyone, I was getting more tips today. I finished early and called Eva to drop her home. I walked home as I always did. As soon as I reached there Eva's car screeched and stopped in front of the gate. June was already asleep in the arms of Eva.
" Thanks Eva, I hope she wasn't a problem." I thanked Eva and took June into my arms.
" It's alright, after all you are too covering up for mom." she smiled.
" Oh how is Ana?" I asked.
"She is better." she said and smoothened the hair on June's forehead.
"Is she doing alright at the school her health hasn't been stable for the past few months." I asked out of concern pointing towards June.
" Don't worry, she is a bright student. She learns things faster. She asks a lot of questions though." she gave us a smile and walked towards her car and took off before waving a good bye.
