Detective Amanda "Mandy" Myers POV
"Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Peanut Butter Jelly Time..."
I stare at the table, where the Prism jewel once sat. Now, there sits a small radio blasting the song, "Peanut Butter Jelly Time."
"I can't believe this!" Dean Walters, my assistant, shouts from his corner. "They've ruined my favourite song!"
"Oh shut up!" Agent Bridget Carson snaps. She's never been an extremely nice person. "Could you hurry up Myers?"
I ignore her and walk over to the wall. I examine the structure of the building, thinking about how the criminals could have gotten in. I look up to the ceiling and to my surprise, a reddish purple substance is dripping from the ceiling, and down the wall.
"ERMAHGERD! BLERD!" Dean panics.
"It's not blood you weirdo, it's wine. Everyone knows that." Bridget rolls her eyes at him.
"It's not either." I stick my finger in it, and taste the little bit of the gelatine like substance.
"It's jelly. Grape jelly."
"Are you kidding me?" Bridget does a little taste test for herself. "What?!"
Dean stays shivered up in the corner, still convinced it's blood. "You guys are cannibals!"
I take a sample, and stick it inside my coat pocket, along with a couple other clues from the crime scene.
It's noon when we finally leave. The air is humid, and the streets are quiet, for the most part.
"I'm hungry. Lunch anyone?" Dean asks, pointing to a nearby café.
"I've got to get back to the office, but you guys go ahead." I say.
I see Bridget mouth, "Thanks a lot Myers," as I'm leaving. I chuckle slightly to myself.
Back at the office, I take the jelly sample to be tested by our head scientist Dr. Raven. She does many tests involving our clues. I return to my desk, only to find that my clues are gone. Sitting in their place instead, is a PB & J sandwich, a small radio playing "Peanut Butter Jelly Time," and a note, which reads,
Ha. It seems to us that you have gotten yourself into a sticky situation, Miss Myers. You can't win now.
With love,
PB & J
