Chapter 1

*Maya's POV*

Beep beep beep beep! "Uuugghh" I groan getting out of bed. I look at the time on my alarm clock. It's only 6:30! Really?? I walk over to my closet picking out something to wear. I pick out a pair of shorts with a flowy white shirt. Then I grab my gold necklace that cam gave me for my 10th birthday and slip it over my head. I pick up my gold sandals from my closet and put them on. I already have on my silver stud earrings. I leave my long, thick, brown hair down and make it just a little wavy. I turn to walk out of the bathroom and notice that the door is closed. I look down and it isn't locked, so i try to open it. Mmph. It wouldn't budge. "Cam?" I called. Nobody answered. "Cam it really isn't funny. Get away from the door." I chuckled. "It's not Cam," a voice said, about to start laughing. "CAMERON ALEXANDER GET AWAY FROM THE DOOR OR I WILL KICK YOU!" I yelled at him in between laughs. "Where?" He said, obviously being sarcastic. "Oh, you KNOW where," I said, still laughing at what a dork he was being. "Oh, gosh, no, please!" He said peeking through the door. "CAMERON GET OUT!! SHOO! FLY AWAY BIRDIE!! GO!" I said literally rolling on the floor laughing. "Say that I'm cooler than Nash and I'll let you go." Me and Nash are seriously close. He's literally my other brother. We're really close and we never get in arguments. Literally. EVER. "Ok, fine, but let me out and then I'll say it." I said it pretending to sigh like I was already regretting saying it. He let me out and wrapped his arms around me so I could barely breathe. "Say it," cam said with a proud smirk on his face. "Ok, here goes nothin. Nash totally won't hate me after you tell him I said this." I said with a worried tone in my voice. "Ok," I tried not to laugh at my plan. "NASH IS BETTER THAN CAM!!!" I yelled slipping out of his grip, running out of my room. "Hey!" Cam said after me. I laughed running down the stairs, almost tripping over somebody at the bottom of the steps. I fell over and they fell on top of me. "NO NO NO HURRY GET OFF OR I'LL DIE PLEASE!!!" I yelled still laughing. The boy now had a startled face and got off saying "sorry." "It's fine." I said while struggling to grab a poptart since I was hungry. I opened the door and was about to run, but I ran into somebody else. I again fell and looked up realizing it was just Nash. "NASH MOVE CAMS GONNA KILL ME!!" I said while he was blocking every move I made. "Ok." He said, slinging me over his shoulders. "NA-ASH!" I yelled laughing. "So, what's cam gonna kill ya for this time?" He asked. I busted out laughing again, trying to talk. "I-I to-old hi-im that you're Bette-er tha-an him." I said laughing. "Oooooohhh, I see." He said. He walked back in the house while I was screaming "NOO!!" He walked in the house and threw me on the couch. I landed on someone. I looked up to see that it was the kid from earlier. He looked at me with an eyebrow raised and then smirked. "And I quote, NO NO NO HURRY GET OFF OR I'LL DIE PLEASE!!!" He said, mocking me with a girly voice. We all started laughing. And then I remembered "Hey Nash, who's the kid?" I asked pointing at the boy. "Kid??" The boy questioned as he stood up off the couch walking toward me showing that he was probably about 7 inches taller than me. "Oh, sorry, I meant, 'old man'" I said smiling. Nash and cam laughed while the boy just chuckled a bit and sat back down, and so did I. "Oh, by the way, that's Hayes" Nash said. I looked over to see the he was smiling wide like a 5 year old would while waving. "Ooooohhh," I said. "You're the one ally's talked about." He looked away shaking his head saying, "Oh, she's a nut job." "OOOOOOOHH IM TELLIN!!" I yelled in his face. Hayes' face went from smiling to worried. "Oh, gosh, please don't" he said shaking his head. I got up with a smirk nodding. "Oh yeah." I said running out the door to ally's house across the street. I got to the door and turned around noticing that Hayes had followed me. I knocked on the door really hard. "Hellooooooo??" Matt said in a goofy voice looking out the peek hole. "MATTY, PLEASE ITS YOUR FAVE PLEASE LET ME IN HAYES IS GONNA KILL ME!!!" I yelled at him. He opened the door quick pulling me in locking the door behind me. "Hayes? I thought cam wasn't gonna introduce you guys till your 14th birthday." Matt said. I face palmed myself shaking my head. "I'm 14 TODAY, Matt." "Oh," he said  with a weird look on his face. I laughed and ran upstairs to Ally's room. I opened her door and looked in. She was on FaceTime with Daniel. I walked in anyway cause I didn't care, to be honest. She noticed and told Daniel bye. "Bye Daniel I gotta go." She said ending the FaceTime. She spun her chair around facing me waiting for me to say something. After about 30 seconds I blurted out, "HAYES SAID YOURE A NUT JOB!!" I said laughing. "Aaahhhh, I see." She said with a smirk on her face. She went over to her dresser and pulled out an under armor sweatshirt and put it on over her t-shirt. She pulled her hair back and said, "Oh yeah, happy birthday by the way. I wouldn't be surprised if Matt didn't tell you." I laughed noticing Matthew hadn't actually said happy birthday yet. "I can't wait until I'm 14," she said. "I can't believe I'm a whole 4 months younger than you. I mean, October? Really? The scaaaary month?" She said waving her hands in the air trying to be scary. I laughed again. "Oh yeah, I got ya something." She walked over to her closet and pulled out a present with pink, yellow, and green chevron. It had a pink neatly tied bow on the top with a card in a green envelope. "Aww, you didn't have to," I said smiling. "Aww, but I did," she said mocking me. I smiled again as she handed me the gift. I opened up the card first. It read, "Dear M., I can't believe you're seriously 14! Like, what?? Anyway, I just wanted to say that I hope you have a great birthday. I'm pretty sure you'll like what me and the guys have planned ;). Happy birthday! Love, ally <3 " I smiled again for like, the 50th time today. I put the card in my lap and started to tear open the wrapping paper. I got to the back side first. I flipped it over and smiled. It was a white box with a picture of a cartoon frog. I opened up the box and almost died. "Oh my gosh, ally, thanks!" I said hugging her. It was a $50 Starbucks gift card and a new pair of blue earphones since mine were broken. "YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I FREAKIN LOVE STARBUCKS!!" I yelled jumping on her back, knocking her over. We screamed falling to the ground. I got off of her and she tried to look at me with a serious face, but we just ended up laughing again. Matthew came running in. "What was that? Are y'all ok?" He asked us. We looked at each others again and ended up laughing or butts off. When we calmed down, Matt was still in the doorway looking at us like we were crazy. Ally looked at me and winked. She walked to the opposite side of her room. I automatically knew what she was about to do, and got out of the way. She yelled "CHAAAAARRRGE!!!!!" Before running towards Matt. She jumped on him and knocked him over. They fell over, rolling down the stairs on top of each other. I looked down and started laughing so hard I was crying. "HAHAHAHAHHAH YOU GUYS ARE SO WEIRD!!" I yelled. Matt got up and rubbed his head. "I think I have a concussion," he said before walking to the kitchen. Ally got up and said, "Ow, that fatso Matthew fell on me." She said laughing. I laughed with her and we walked in the kitchen with Matt. He turned around with an orange stuffed in his mouth. He spit it out in the trash can. "Hey guys, I think you might wanna go unlock the door. Hayes is still out there, just saying." We laughed because we didn't think Hayes would still be out there. I had my Starbucks gift card and my earphones in my pocket. We walked outside and just like Matt had said, there was Hayes, sitting on the sidewalk. We ran over to him and he looked up at us in disgust. He started to get up so we ran, and he ran after us. He made it into the house before we could lock him out. He ran upstairs after us and we didn't know what to do. "Give me your shoe." I handed ally my shoe and she threw it at his face. It hit him in the eye and he fell backwards down the steps. "Oh my gosh." Ally looked at me with her hands over her mouth and her eyes were wide. We ran down the stairs and I helped him up. He grabbed my hand, but instead of pulling himself up, he pulled me down with him. He rolled over on top of me and just layer on me. "Hayes, get off! You're heavy!" I whined. "So you're calling me fat," I laughed and replied, "yes." He got up and sat on top of me and started bouncing on me. "HAYES GET OFF FATSO!! NASH COME GET YOUR SLAVE OFF OF ME!" I screamed. Ally just sat there and laughed. Soon Nash and cam came and pulled him off of me. "Thanks nashyyyyyyy." I said as I hugged Nash. "You're welcome mayyyaaaaaaaaaaaaa." He said. I laughed and he picked me up and threw me on the couch. Cam walked in and he was on the phone. "Yeah, ok mom. Yes, mom, I got it. Yeah. Bye. Love you too." He hung up and walked over to us and sat on the couch. I slid over to him and curled up in his lap and started sucking my thumb like a baby would. "Awwww look at the wittle baaabyyyyyyy!" Hayes said. "Goo goo ga ga." I said at them. They all laughed and then cam pushed me on the floor. I looked up at him and started crying like a baby. "Waaaahhh!!" They laughed again and then I got up. "Hey M, all the boys are gonna come for lunch and then they'll stay the night. Cool? Cool." Cam said. He walked upstairs and came back down with the wii sports disk in his hand. "Who wants to play? Maya and Hayes get to pick since it's their birthday." Me and Hayes looked at each other. "BASEBALL!" We yelled in unison. We looked at each other again and high fived. "Baseball it is," cam said as he was walking back upstairs. We followed him to the game room and watched as he put the disk in. We picked the teams and decided it would be cam vs Nash. "Ok for my first player, I pick, maya." I walked over to Nash's side, glad that he picked me. "Well ok then I get Hayes." "Wait, the teams are uneven." I said. Right then all the boys and the girls walked in. By 'the boys' I mean, Shawn, Matt, carter, Taylor, Aaron, Daniel, Jacob, jack j, and jack g, and by 'the girls' I mean, Gabi, Leia, Sabrina, Madison, and, ugh, Riley. So if you don't know who Riley is, well, she's, my, umm, well, bully. She bullies me, ally, and Leia. Honestly, she's just a plain jerk. I kinda hate her, but ya'know, since cam is always trying to "do good" and make people "feel better about themselves," he doesn't allow me to hate anybody. I know. Crazy. But well, that's cam. I looked at ally and then at Hayes, and then at Leia. We all exchanged glances. "Hey, cam, me, ally, Leia, and Hayes are going to my room. K? K." We all got up and ran to my room. Once we were in we closed the door and decided what to do. "Hey you guys wanna play truth or dare?" Leia said wiggling her eyebrows. We all looked at each other and nodded. "Ok, I'll start." Leia looked us all in the eyes as she was deciding who to pick. "Maya." She said staring at me with a smirk. "You, have to," she started to look at Hayes and busted out laughing. She leaned over to me and ally and whispered the rest, "kick Hayes and then, we all run." Out loud I decided to ask, "Where?" She looked at me with a 'duh' face and said, "Oh, you know where." I nodded and walked over to Hayes. He said crisscross 'applesauce' on the floor and looked up at me and horror. I looked down at him and swung my leg towards him and hit him in the area. "RUN NOW! GO!" I yelled as me and the girls ran out of my room, down the stairs, out the front door, and down the neighborhood into ally and matts house. We ran inside and locked the door. "We're back again, in the same place, still running from Hayes." I laughed. We walked upstairs and ended up in matts room, making a human sandwich. Matt was obviously on the bottom and screaming for help. We sat there and laughed until Matthew hushed us. I heard the back door slowly creak open. "You guys hear that?" Matt said in a nervous whisper. Our faces went pale as we looked at him and nodded. We quietly got off of Matt as he went and grabbed a bat from under his bed. "Stay here. Lock the door. Anyone try to come in, scream as loud as you can." He instructed us. We nodded as he walked out and we locked the door behind him. We heard a few things fall, and after 15 minutes we were all in nervous tears. "What if, what if Matthew never comes back? He's my brother, what then? I would have to move back to la with my parents," ally whispered in a frightened tone. "Don't think like that, he'll come back. He's the Matthew Espinosa," Leia told her. Ally nodded her head and didn't say anything after that. About 5 minutes later, Matt still wasn't back and we were all still in tears. All of the sudden, we heard things. Horrific things, something you would never in your life want to hear. It all went by so fast. Breaking glass, gunshots, screams, and sirens. It probably took about 3 hours, but when things like this happen, it just goes by in like, 5 seconds..................the guys and the girls (except Riley) comforted us and told us everything would be okay as we were crying in the waiting room. Cam stood up and and asked the lady at the counter for Matthew Espinosa. "Room 305."
