It was another colourful summer day in Las Vegas, the town was lit, alive and well. Tourists were pouring in from all over the world to gamble away lives. However, Linda was not one of those tourists. She lived in Las Vegas. It never made sense to her why her parents would choose to settle down in Las Vegas. She never had anything against the place, it just never seemed like a logical place to settle. In fact, Linda loved all the lights, shows and attractions. She was always captivated by all the glamour, though she always wondered what life would be like elsewhere, without all that glamour she was so accustomed to. She even wondered how she would have been like if she had grown up elsewhere.

Summer was nearing its end, and that meant Linda was returning to Bishop Gorman High school for her last year. She hated it there. She always had the feeling she was nothing like the other kids. She always tried to differentiate herself from them, and they probably targeted her more for that. Linda was in fact very different for a 17 year old. While other girls her age were into Justin Bieber and One Direction, she would rather spend her time making sculptures and paintings. She was often bothered by the other kids at school and she was dreading seeing them all again. The only person she actually enjoyed spending time with from school was Sammie. She had spent the majority of the time she had outside of sculpting and painting with Sammie. They hung out a lot in the summer. They would love to go downtown to meet and observe the different tourists.

“What time do you want to meet?” Sammie asked Linda over the phone

“How does eight sound?”

“That’s good. I’ll see you at the bus stop at the south end of the strip.”
