As Linda arrived, she saw that Sammie was waiting for her at the stop. It was starting to get get dark and you could tell the light was partly due to the very well lit strip. They began walking down the street and talking about how they weren't looking forward to school in two weeks. As they approached the central area of the strip, they began to observe all the tourists in the area, almost as if they were some form of experiment under the bright lights of Vegas. For a moment, Linda got a feeling that she didn’t belong here but she kept that thought to herself.
As they were nearing one of the Casinos a man approached them with a smirk on his face as if he had just won a jackpot.
“Good evening ladies, can I interest you in a drink?”
They had been through this before. Every now and then a creep would approach them and try his luck with some fancy pick-up line. They both knew the drill. Sammie quickly replied to the man
“Actually we were just about to leave. Thanks though!”
For a moment though, Linda saw something different in this guy, he definitely wasn’t from Vegas, but there was just something different about him. She thought maybe she had just seen him before or something and let the thought drift away.
They spent the night chatting and walking until Sammie realized she needed to be home before her parents would get mad. Linda’s parents were not like that, she could come and go as she pleased as long as it wasn’t too outrageous.
When Linda got home, her parents were already asleep. She was feeling pretty tired herself and decided she would go to bed too. She got comfortable and tucked in, then realized her phone’s notification light was flashing in the dark. She opened it and saw that she had a message that read:
“Hey, it was nice finally meeting you today, I didn’t mean to scare you and your friend away. I just want to talk to you. Actually I might even have a proposition for you.”
Being a curious person, Linda was not satisfied. She was so confused at this point. Who was this man, and how on earth did he have her number? What could a complete stranger propose to her?
